A 12 Days of Christmas banner can be a strand of twelve carol-inspired icons, a separate text banner, a single fabric pennant, or a printable garland. The name does not describe one standard size or construction, so check the format, dimensions, materials, and whether you are buying finished decor or a file before choosing.
What does a 12 Days of Christmas banner look like?
Listings use the phrase for several different display styles. Some pair a strand of twelve illustrated gifts or other song-related icons with a second banner bearing the words “12 Days of Christmas.” Others use one compact pennant or tapestry-style design, while printable versions are files you print and assemble yourself.
For example, Gatherings by CP describes twelve sewn icons on a banner and a separate gold-foil text banner. Pender & Peony describes twelve gifts or icons sewn on string, plus a separate “12 Days” banner. These are individual product examples, not a universal specification.
Compare the formats and dimensions
| Example | Format and dimensions | Materials or included pieces |
|---|---|---|
| Gatherings by CP | Icon banner approximately 5.5 feet long; separate text banner approximately 4 feet long | Sewn banners; gold foil is specified |
| Pender & Peony | Icon banner approximately 5.5 feet long; separate “12 Days” banner approximately 4 feet long | Paper carol banner; twelve gifts or icons sewn on string |
| Etsy fabric pennant listing | One-sided design, 18 by 21 inches | Printed fabric with a wood dowel and twine frame |
| Etsy garland listing | Digital product; no finished physical dimensions are stated | PDF and JPG files for printing and assembly |
The examples show why it helps to compare the complete hanging arrangement rather than relying on the product title: two long strands take more wall space than a single small pennant, and a download needs printing and assembly.

How to choose a banner for your display
- Measure the space. Check whether the listed length applies to one strand or to a set of multiple strands. Allow room for the hanging points and any drape.
- Choose the layout. Decide whether you want twelve separate icons, a text banner as well, or one compact illustration.
- Check construction and materials. Listings may describe sewn pieces, paper, printed fabric, gold foil, or a dowel-and-twine frame. Confirm what is actually included.
- Confirm the product type. A physical banner arrives ready to hang or with its stated hardware; a digital download requires you to print and assemble it.
- Review the current listing before ordering. Confirm exact dimensions, availability, price, shipping, and delivery terms with the seller, since these details can change.
Printable banner or ready-made decor?
A printable garland is a file rather than a finished decoration. The Etsy example is offered as PDF and JPG files intended for printing and assembly. That format can suit someone who wants to make the finished garland themselves, but the listing details should clarify what pages or pieces are included and what assembly is required.
