For most commercial projects, start with Pexels, Unsplash, or Pixabay. Pexels is the strongest general-purpose choice for photography and video, Unsplash is excellent for polished brand imagery, and Pixabay offers the widest mix of photos, illustrations, vectors, video, GIFs, music, and sound effects.
“Free commercial use” means the site’s license permits specified business uses. It does not mean the image is copyright-free, public domain, exclusive, or automatically cleared for recognizable people, trademarks, logos, artwork, buildings, or private property. Always check the individual asset page and save its license information before publishing.

How these sites were ranked
The useful question is not “Which site has the biggest library?” It is “Which source fits this job with the least licensing friction and risk?” The comparison considers commercial breadth, attribution, asset variety, search usefulness, visual style, license clarity, third-party-rights risk, resale and merchandise rules, client-work suitability, and whether the images are likely to be overused.

1. Pexels: best overall for ordinary commercial projects
Pexels is the best default for many small businesses, marketers, bloggers, ecommerce operators, and social-media managers. Its collection covers general business, lifestyle, technology, travel, food, products, and people, and it also includes stock video.
Pexels permits commercial and personal use, modification, and use in websites, ecommerce shops, newsletters, ebooks, presentations, blogs, templates, advertising, print marketing, and social media. Attribution is not required. However, its license prohibits selling unmodified copies, redistributing files to stock or wallpaper platforms, implying endorsement, and using content in a trademark, trade name, or service mark. Its commercial-project guidance also warns that depicted people, brands, logos, and other third-party rights may require separate permission.
Choose it when: you need a practical photo or video for a website, campaign, product page, presentation, or social post without a mandatory credit.
Check first: recognizable people, visible logos, sensitive claims, implied endorsements, and any plan to sell the image itself or use it in merchandise.
2. Unsplash: best for polished photography
Unsplash is particularly strong for high-quality lifestyle, editorial, technology, travel, architecture, and brand photography. Its visual style often feels more curated and design-led than conventional stock.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The Unsplash License grants a worldwide, nonexclusive, irrevocable license to download, copy, modify, distribute, and use images for commercial and noncommercial purposes without permission or mandatory attribution. It prohibits compiling Unsplash images to create a competing service and selling images without significant modification.
Those permissions address the image license, not every right visible in the photograph. Inspect recognizable people, brands, logos, landmarks, products, artwork, and architecture before using an image in advertising or packaging. Unsplash provides separate guidance for these issues.
Choose it when: visual tone, composition, and brand polish matter more than finding a highly specific product scene.
3. Pixabay: best for mixed media
Pixabay is the broadest option when a project needs more than photography. It offers photos, illustrations, vectors, video, GIFs, music, and sound effects.

Standalone selling or redistribution is restricted, as is using content in a way that implies endorsement.
Do not assume that every item is public domain or that every visible element is cleared. A photo can still contain a recognizable person, logo, artwork, or branded product with separate legal implications.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Choose it when: you need a sound effect, background video, illustration, GIF, or vector alongside your images.
4. Burst by Shopify: best for ecommerce
Burst is designed around ecommerce, retail, entrepreneurship, products, and small-business imagery. It is a sensible first stop for product pages, online-shop banners, seasonal promotions, and startup content.
Recommended Free Tools
Limitation: verify the current terms for the specific asset and inspect visible brands, packaging, people, and products. “Suitable for ecommerce” does not automatically mean every use is cleared for packaging, paid advertising, or merchandise.
5. Kaboompics: best for consistent lifestyle sets
Kaboompics is useful when a brand needs a coherent series of interiors, food, fashion, textures, workspaces, or lifestyle images. Its related-image sets can make a website or campaign look more consistent than a collection assembled from unrelated libraries.
Images under the Standard License can generally be downloaded, modified, and used in commercial projects such as websites, packaging, advertising, apps, presentations, and printed materials. Attribution is not required. Kaboompics also provides an Editorial Use Only license; those images cannot be used commercially.
The license restricts standalone resale, competing services, AI training, image generation, biometric tracking, facial recognition, and misleading endorsement. It also places responsibility for third-party rights involving visible trademarks, artwork, buildings, products, and people on the user.

6. StockSnap: useful general discovery
StockSnap is a practical supplementary source for general photography and free-stock discovery. It can help when the larger libraries return repetitive results.
Limitation: confirm the current license wording and check whether the individual image carries a different restriction. Before using an image in an advertisement, packaging, merchandise, or client work, document the asset page and download date.
7. Gratisography: best for unusual concepts
Gratisography is aimed at quirky, humorous, surreal, and less generic imagery. It can help a campaign stand out when standard “business meeting” stock feels interchangeable.
Limitation: unusual images often create unusual legal questions. Check recognizable people, artwork, logos, products, and contextual implications before using one in paid advertising or merchandise, and verify the current license.
8. Picjumbo: practical blog and business imagery
Picjumbo is commonly used for business, food, technology, lifestyle, and blog imagery. It is a useful backup when a project needs straightforward editorial or marketing visuals.
Limitation: review the current terms, especially restrictions on standalone resale, redistribution, templates, and merchandise. A free download is not permission to create a competing stock library.

- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting screen off the desktop, this monitor arm opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- Wide Compatibility: WALI single monitor arm is designed to fit most flat or curved LCD/LED screens up to 34", regular screen up to 32 inch, max load capacity 26.4 lbs for flat screens and 19.8 lbs for curved screens, with standard Mounting Pattern mounting holes 75x75mm and 100x100mm. - Full Motion for Ergonomic Comfort: WALI single vesa monitor mount allows to extend your screen out by 19.3" and raise the arm up to 17.3" above the desktop. It swivels +180°/-180°, tilts +70°/-45°and rotates 360°. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.

- Two Ways to Install: We offer two desk mounting options: C-clamp mounting for desks 0.39″–2.76″ thick, or grommet base mounting for desks 0.39″–2.76″ thick. With straightforward instructions, you can set up your monitor arm effortlessly, making it a hassle-free addition to your desk. We only recommend installing it on a wooden desk, preferably with no crossbeam blocking the underside.
9. Freepik: best for design assets
Freepik is better for vectors, illustrations, PSD files, icons, mockups, and other design resources than for a simple “download a photo and use it anywhere” workflow.
Freepik’s terms generally make free authorization conditional on attribution to the website or company and, where applicable, the contributor. Redistribution, resale, and third-party transfer are restricted. The exact asset page and applicable plan control the details.
Choose it when: you need an editable graphic, illustration, mockup, or vector for a brochure, social campaign, or presentation.
Remember: free content commonly requires visible attribution. Paid access may solve attribution or access issues, but it does not automatically clear every trademark, likeness, or property concern.
10. Vecteezy: useful graphics with meaningful free-tier limits
Vecteezy offers vectors, illustrations, graphics, and stock photos, but its Free License is not an unrestricted commercial license.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The free tier requires attribution and states limits including up to 50 print copies, no merchandise, up to 10,000 digital views, and production budgets up to $1,000. Its free tier also provides only limited legal protection, stated as up to $500 per claim. Pro tiers remove or increase several restrictions and remove attribution requirements, subject to their terms.
Editorial Use Only content is not suitable for commercial or promotional use. Vecteezy’s free tier is therefore a poor fit for high-volume print, merchandise, large digital campaigns, or productions above the stated budget limits.
11. Adobe Stock Free: professional assets inside a paid marketplace
Adobe Stock Free provides a free subset within Adobe’s broader stock marketplace. It can be useful for professionally produced photos, vectors, templates, and video when the ordinary free libraries do not offer the right subject or finish.
Limitation: confirm that the specific item is marked free and read the applicable Adobe Stock license. Do not assume that every asset visible in the marketplace is free or that free availability means unlimited use in every commercial format.

Canva is a workflow platform as much as an image source. It is convenient for finding an image, resizing it, adding brand elements, and publishing a social post, presentation, flyer, or web graphic.
Canva distinguishes Free, Pro, Branded, Education, Editorial, and other content categories. The Content License Agreement prohibits sublicensing, reselling, transferring, and using content as a trademark, design mark, trade name, or service mark. Editorial Use Only content cannot be used commercially. Canva Education users may use Pro Content only for educational, noncommercial purposes.
Canva also warns that releases are generally not obtained for Free Content. For advertising, healthcare, financial services, political campaigns, testimonials, or sensitive claims, inspect the asset and consider imagery with documented releases or a paid source offering stronger legal documentation.

13. Rawpixel: check the collection, not just the site
Rawpixel is useful for illustrations, public-domain material, creative assets, and design resources. Its licensing is mixed, so the important distinction is whether an asset belongs to a public-domain collection, a free collection, or a premium collection.

14. ISO Republic: supplementary photography and video
ISO Republic is a useful backup source for general stock photography and video. Use it when the larger libraries do not have a suitable composition or subject.
Limitation: confirm its current commercial terms before publication and inspect third-party elements, particularly in images used for advertising, packaging, or products for sale.
15. Life of Pix: artistic photography and backgrounds
Life of Pix is suited to artistic photography, backgrounds, and visual inspiration. It can provide a less conventional look for websites, editorial layouts, and creative campaigns.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What “free commercial images” actually means
These terms are often used interchangeably, but they are not equivalent:
- Free download: you do not pay to download the file. This says nothing by itself about permitted use.
- Free personal use: nonbusiness use may be allowed while advertising, client work, packaging, or paid products are restricted.
- Free commercial use: the license permits specified business or revenue-generating uses, subject to its restrictions.
- Royalty-free: usually describes a payment model for repeat use. It does not mean copyright-free or unrestricted.
- Public domain: copyright restrictions may no longer apply, but other rights, including publicity, privacy, trademark, or property rights, can still matter.
- CC0: a specific public-domain dedication. Do not describe Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, Kaboompics, Freepik, Vecteezy, or Canva as CC0 unless the individual asset is specifically identified that way.
- Attribution-required: commercial use may be allowed only if the required credit is displayed in the specified form.
- Editorial Use Only: generally suitable for news, commentary, or informational editorial contexts, not advertising, packaging, promotional landing pages, or commercial merchandise.
- Free tier in a paid marketplace: only some assets or uses are free, and the license may differ by plan, asset type, account, or project.
Which commercial uses should you test?
| Use | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Website hero, blog, newsletter, presentation | Commercial permission, attribution, editorial labels, and visible third-party rights |
| Organic social posts | Commercial permission if the account promotes a business; avoid implied endorsement |
| Paid social and display advertising | Model or property releases, logos, sensitive context, and endorsement risk |
| Ecommerce product pages | Commercial permission, product or brand rights, and whether the image is being sold as the product |
| Packaging, brochures, and flyers | Print-run limits, merchandise restrictions, releases, and attribution placement |
| Client work | Sublicensing or transfer rules, attribution obligations, and a record of the exact asset license |
| Templates and mockups | Whether redistribution or editable-file distribution is allowed |
| Print-on-demand and merchandise | Explicit merchandise permission, print limits, and whether the image is the product’s main value |
| Logos and trademarks | Express trademark permission and independent clearance; free stock is generally a poor default |
| AI training or datasets | Express permission. Some licenses, including Kaboompics, prohibit these uses |
Before-you-publish checklist
- Open the individual asset page and confirm its current license.
- Check whether the asset is labeled Editorial Use Only.
- Record whether attribution is required, optional, or asset-dependent.
- Look for recognizable people and consider publicity, privacy, defamation, and sensitive-use risks.
- Look for logos, trademarks, branded products, artwork, distinctive buildings, and private property.
- Ask whether the image could imply that a person, brand, or organization endorses your product.
- Do not use ordinary stock as a logo or trademark without express permission and separate clearance.
- If selling merchandise, verify explicit merchandise rights, print limits, and whether the image is the primary value of the product.
- Confirm that you are not redistributing the original file, an editable asset, or a competing stock service.
- Save the asset URL, download date, contributor name, license screenshot or PDF, attribution text, release information, and final project record.
Keeping a license record does not guarantee legal protection, but it creates a useful audit trail if the site later changes its terms or removes the asset.
When free stock is the wrong choice
Use paid stock, commissioned photography, original artwork, or legal review when the project involves a large paid campaign, high-volume packaging, political or medical claims, financial advice, celebrity or influencer marketing, sensitive testimonials, high-volume merchandise, trademark creation, or a client who requires indemnification.
Paid services may offer more specific search results, documented releases, broader usage limits, and stronger legal protection. Those benefits still do not automatically clear every trademark, likeness, property, or regulatory issue.
Free stock is also not exclusive. The same image may appear across thousands of websites. For a distinctive brand, original photography or a commissioned shoot may be worth more than saving the download fee.
Finally, Reshot should not be treated as a current recommendation in this 2026 list: recent availability reporting says it was retired by Envato, with assets no longer available for download from January 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use free stock images in paid ads?
Often, yes, if the individual asset’s license permits commercial advertising. Check recognizable people, logos, artwork, property, sensitive contexts, and implied endorsement before publication.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do I need to credit the photographer?
Not usually on Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, or Kaboompics Standard License images. Freepik and Vecteezy commonly require attribution, while Canva, Adobe Stock Free, Rawpixel, and other mixed libraries depend on the asset and applicable license.
Can I use free images on product packaging?
Possibly, but verify packaging and print permissions, print-run limits, attribution rules, merchandise restrictions, and third-party rights.
Can I sell shirts or posters using free images?
Do not assume so. Some licenses restrict merchandise or standalone prints, and the image cannot generally be the main value of the product. Vecteezy’s free tier prohibits merchandise.
Can I use a free stock image in a logo?
Generally, no. Stock licenses commonly restrict trademark or service-mark use, and a logo requires independent trademark and rights clearance.
Recommended Free Tools
Are free stock images copyright-free?
No. They remain subject to copyright or a site-specific license. “Free commercial use” means only that specified commercial uses are permitted under that license.
What does Editorial Use Only mean?
It generally limits an image to news, commentary, or informational editorial contexts. It is not a default permission for advertising, packaging, promotional pages, or commercial merchandise.
Can I use images with recognizable people?
Possibly, but a stock-site license may not be a model release. Avoid implying endorsement and use extra caution for healthcare, politics, finance, testimonials, crime, or other sensitive claims.
Is Canva Free Content safe for commercial use?
Canva permits many uses under its Content License Agreement, but the exact content category, account context, and project matter. Free Content may still include third-party-rights issues, and Canva Education Pro Content is noncommercial.
Are Freepik and Vecteezy free without attribution?
Not generally. Freepik’s free content commonly requires attribution, and Vecteezy’s Free License requires attribution and imposes additional usage limits.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Use Pexels for the easiest general-purpose photography and video, Unsplash for polished brand imagery, Pixabay for mixed media, Burst for ecommerce, and Kaboompics for cohesive lifestyle sets. For vectors and editable design assets, look to Freepik or Vecteezy—but read the asset-level terms carefully. Before publishing, verify attribution, editorial labels, people, brands, property, merchandise rights, and resale restrictions.
