Para tejer un tapiz pequeño en un telar de bastidor o ranurado, empieza con el tafetán y avanza hacia flecos, formas y cambios de color. Estas seis técnicas te permiten practicar desde la estructura básica hasta el remate, sin perder de vista la tensión de los hilos.

Qué necesitas y cómo funciona el telar
La urdimbre son los hilos tensados que recorren el telar; la trama es el hilo que pasa horizontalmente por encima y por debajo de ellos. En un telar de bastidor o ranurado puedes trabajar con lana u otros hilos, una aguja lanera y tijeras. Una naveta y algodón para urdimbre son opcionales. - Teje varias pasadas sencillas para fijar una base estable.
- Incorpora flecos, formas y color en las secciones que quieras destacar.
- Remata la última pasada y asegura el tapiz antes de retirarlo del telar.
1. Tafetán o punto plano: crea una base regular
Pasa la trama alternando por encima y por debajo de cada hilo de urdimbre. En la pasada siguiente, invierte el orden: donde la trama quedó por encima, debe pasar por debajo, y viceversa. Mantén una tensión pareja y asienta cada fila con suavidad para evitar que los bordes se estrechen o que la tela se abombe.

El tafetán produce una superficie relativamente plana y ordenada. Es una buena base para estabilizar el tejido y para practicar el control de tensión antes de añadir texturas o motivos.
2. Nudos Rya: añade flecos y relieve
Para formar flecos, coloca una tira de lana sobre un par de hilos de urdimbre, envuelve sus extremos alrededor del par y anúdalos. Repite el proceso a lo ancho de la sección elegida y, si quieres un fleco más denso, agrega más filas de nudos. Procura que las tiras tengan longitudes similares para que el borde quede parejo.

Los nudos Rya crean volumen y textura, a diferencia de la superficie más plana del tafetán. Puedes combinarlos con filas de tejido plano para separar visualmente las zonas con flecos.
3. Formas geométricas: modifica el ancho gradualmente
Los triángulos y otras figuras se forman aumentando o disminuyendo la anchura del área tejida. Para ensanchar una forma, incorpora gradualmente hilos de urdimbre en sus bordes; para estrecharla, deja de tejer sobre algunos hilos en pasadas sucesivas. Los cambios escalonados también pueden dibujar contornos geométricos.

Avanza poco a poco y vigila ambos lados de la figura. Un cambio brusco de anchura puede dejar huecos o hacer que el motivo pierda su forma. La tensión y la regularidad de las filas ayudan a mantener el contorno legible.
4. Intercalado de colores: crea motivos sin dejar huecos
Introduce una trama de otro color en la zona donde quieras cambiar el dibujo. Al encontrarse dos colores en una pasada, cruza o solapa sus extremos para que no quede una abertura entre las áreas tejidas. Mantén cada color dentro de su sección y ajusta la tensión para que el borde compartido no tire de la urdimbre.

En lugar de comenzar o terminar todas las pasadas en el mismo punto, desplaza su inicio o su final gradualmente. Esa diferencia entre filas construye bordes diagonales y transiciones de anchura. Trabaja por secciones y comprueba con frecuencia que el perfil avance de forma deliberada, no por una tensión irregular.

El tejido escalonado requiere más control del ancho que una fila plana continua. Puede combinarse con cambios de color o con incrementos y disminuciones para definir mejor los contornos.
6. Cierre y remate: asegura el tapiz antes de retirarlo
Al terminar, asegura la última fila y corta el tejido dejando urdimbre suficiente para anudar. Ata los hilos para que la trama no se deshaga y extrae el tapiz del telar con cuidado. Oculta o fija los extremos sueltos y sujeta los hilos superiores a una varilla para poder colgar la pieza.
El acabado influye tanto en la firmeza como en la presentación: una última fila bien asegurada, los nudos de urdimbre y los extremos recogidos mantienen el tejido en su sitio.

- Prepara y tensa la urdimbre en un telar de bastidor, ranurado o casero.
- Teje varias filas de tafetán para formar una base.
- Añade una sección de nudos Rya para practicar los flecos.
- Construye una figura geométrica ensanchando o estrechando gradualmente la zona tejida.
- Introduce otro color, cruza los extremos de las tramas y prueba un borde escalonado.
- Asegura la última fila, corta y anuda la urdimbre, retira el tapiz y fija los hilos a una varilla.
Este orden va de una estructura regular a recursos que exigen más control del ancho y del dibujo. El tutorial de Nushu muestra pasadas alternas, filas escalonadas y anudado de flecos; MindiCraft también describe el patrón alterno de la trama.
