There is no verified industry ranking of the nine most popular kitchen colors for 2025. Sherwin-Williams’ forecast offers useful color inspiration—not a count of what homeowners chose. Its 2025 Colormix forecast features 48 trend-forward hues across four palettes, while its kitchen guidance highlights shades including Evergreen Fog, In the Navy, Fleur de Sel, Stardew, Alabaster, Whisper and Limewash. The nine directions below are an editorial selection from those manufacturer examples and its separate Color Capsule, not a measured top-nine list.

What are the top kitchen color trends for 2025?

Think of these as nine ways to approach color rather than a ranked list. Some are named Sherwin-Williams colors; others are broader design directions suggested by those shades. Choose according to the kitchen’s fixed finishes, how much painted surface you want, and whether you want a quiet backdrop or a stronger statement.

Color direction Named examples Consider it for
Warm earth brown Grounded, Clove A grounded focal point or cabinetry with warmth
Warm, adaptable light neutral Sunbleached, Alabaster, Whisper, Limewash Walls or cabinetry when you want a lighter, quieter field
Botanical green Evergreen Fog, Bosc Pear A nature-inspired color on cabinets or an island
Deep, grounded color Rain Cloud, In the Navy A stronger focal point or a more dramatic cabinet color
Softened accent hue Malabar, Mauve Finery A restrained accent or a smaller painted area

The examples are not interchangeable paint recommendations: undertone and depth affect how a shade relates to countertops, flooring, wood, metal and daylight. Sherwin-Williams describes its nine-color 2025 Color Capsule as a palette intended to work together or in pairings; it is not a kitchen ranking.

1. Warm earth browns

Grounded is one of the shades in Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 Color Capsule. A warm brown can bring visual weight and a natural feel to a kitchen, especially when balanced with lighter walls or counters. Before using a deep brown across every cabinet, consider trying it on an island or another limited area; a small sample can reveal whether the room feels inviting or overly dark.

2. Warm, adaptable light neutrals

Sunbleached is in the Color Capsule, while Alabaster, Whisper and Limewash appear among Sherwin-Williams’ kitchen color examples. Light neutrals can provide a quieter background than a saturated cabinet color, but they still have undertones. Compare the sample with the kitchen’s fixed finishes rather than assuming that every white or pale neutral will read alike.

3. Botanical greens

Sherwin-Williams’ kitchen guidance includes Evergreen Fog, and Bosc Pear appears in its 2025 Color Capsule. These named greens suggest different levels of presence: a more muted green can feel subdued, while a brighter one makes a more noticeable statement. The same distinction matters when deciding between full cabinetry and a smaller feature such as an island.

4. Deep, grounded colors

Rain Cloud is a deep shade in the Color Capsule, and In the Navy appears in Sherwin-Williams’ kitchen recommendations. Deep colors can make cabinetry or an island a focal point, but the result depends on how much surface carries the color and on the room’s light. Test the actual paint in place before committing to a large area.

5. Softened accent hues

Malabar and Mauve Finery are among the softer shades in the Color Capsule. They offer an alternative to choosing only white, brown or green, particularly when used selectively. Treat the sample as a way to judge both its undertone and how strongly it contrasts with existing materials.

6. A muted blue-gray

Stardew is among Sherwin-Williams’ kitchen color examples. A muted blue-gray can read as a restrained color choice rather than a bright focal shade. Check it against nearby wood, stone and metal in the kitchen; those pairings, along with the room’s light, will shape its appearance.

7. A classic navy statement

In the Navy is another kitchen shade named by Sherwin-Williams. Compared with a pale neutral, navy makes painted surfaces more prominent. It may suit a more intentional cabinet or island statement; consider the area being painted and the balance of light and dark finishes around it.

8. A soft, pale blue

Fleur de Sel is included in Sherwin-Williams’ kitchen guidance. A pale blue can add color without the visual weight of a deep blue, but its appearance still depends on the specific space. A physical sample is more useful than judging the shade from a screen when the decision hinges on how it relates to a particular counter or floor.

9. A layered neutral palette

Rather than choosing one color for every painted surface, combine a light neutral with a more distinct cabinet or island shade. Sherwin-Williams’ Color Capsule was selected to work as a complete palette or in pairings, offering a manufacturer-curated source of combinations. That does not establish that any pairing is right for a given kitchen: check the colors alongside its permanent finishes and in its own lighting.

What kitchen cabinet colors are trending in 2025?

Sherwin-Williams names Evergreen Fog, In the Navy, Fleur de Sel, Stardew and Alabaster among its kitchen examples. Those are manufacturer recommendations, not evidence of which cabinet colors homeowners chose most often. The company also identifies Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel as a cabinet paint, distinguishing cabinet-specific product guidance from the question of which color to select.

How to choose a color for your kitchen

  1. Decide what you are painting. Walls, all cabinets and an island put different amounts of color into the room. A shade that feels comfortable as an accent may be overwhelming across every cabinet.
  2. Compare undertone and depth. Decide whether you want a warm or cool impression, and whether the color should remain light or make a stronger statement.
  3. Check it against fixed finishes. Put the sample beside counters, flooring, backsplash and other materials that will stay. A color’s relationship to these surfaces matters more than its appearance in isolation.
  4. Test it in the kitchen. Sherwin-Williams offers color chips, peel-and-stick samples and paint samples. Compare the shade where it will be used and observe it under the room’s lighting before choosing the full-size paint. No one sample method is established as best for every kitchen.
