CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2026 is a Windows design suite for creating vector illustrations and layouts, editing raster images, managing fonts, and capturing screens. For painters, it can turn artwork into print-ready posters, book covers, labels, portfolio pages, stencils, and promotional graphics.
The current major release is CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2026. The March release is version 27.0.0.121; the latest listed update is version 27.1, released July 14, 2026, and it applies to the March release.
What CorelDRAW Graphics Suite includes
On Windows, the suite combines vector, raster, typography, and capture tools:

The distinction between vector and raster matters. A scanned watercolor or oil painting is raster artwork made from pixels. A CorelDRAW logo, frame, title, or cutting template is vector artwork that can scale without becoming pixelated. A practical project may use both: edit the painting in PHOTO-PAINT, then place it inside a CorelDRAW layout with vector text and graphics.

What is new in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2026?
The 2026 release refreshes the interface and adds AI Generate, AI-powered background removal, AI object selection, and AI masking features in PHOTO-PAINT. AI Generate can create images from text, use reference images, make variations, and modify existing visuals. Corel says launch times can be around three times faster or more, depending on the system.
These tools may help remove a neutral studio background from a photograph of a painting or prepare alternate visual directions for a poster. They do not replace the need to inspect edges, colors, texture, and print quality—especially when the original artwork is the product being represented.

Licensing: subscription versus one-time purchase
The license affects which features, content, updates, and online services remain available.

For a painter who mainly scans work, creates occasional posters, and wants a stable version, the one-time purchase may be sufficient. Someone producing regular client work, relying on CorelDRAW Web, or wanting new AI features should compare the subscription or maintenance terms rather than assuming all editions are identical.

- A mouse, tablet, or multi-touch screen.
- Internet access for installation, authentication, some included software, online features, and content.
These are minimums, not a guarantee of a comfortable painting workflow. Large scans, high-resolution photographs, and multi-page layouts can benefit from more memory, a fast SSD, and a current graphics processor.
A straightforward workflow for a scanned painting
- Capture the original carefully. Photograph or scan the painting at a resolution suitable for its intended output. Keep an untouched master copy.
- Open the image in PHOTO-PAINT. Correct exposure, crop unwanted edges, remove dust, and adjust color while comparing the screen image with the physical painting.
- Use background removal or masking only where needed. Inspect brush hairs, irregular paper edges, dry-brush marks, and translucent passages manually. Automated selection can simplify a clean background but may damage delicate edges.
- Move the edited image into CorelDRAW. Create the page size required for the poster, card, book cover, or product sheet, then place the painting and add vector text, borders, and other elements.
- Save the working file as CDR. This preserves the native CorelDRAW document and its editable layout.
- Export a delivery copy. Choose PNG, JPEG, PDF, or another format appropriate to the printer, website, or client. Keep the CDR master separate from exported files.
Starting, saving, and exporting on Windows
To launch the program, use:
Start → CorelDRAW Graphics Suite → CorelDRAW
To close it, choose:
File → Exit
The native CorelDRAW format is CDR. Use File → Save As, then select the required format from Save as type. Depending on the format, the dialog may include Selected only, Embed fonts, Advanced, comments, and tags.
To save for an older CorelDRAW release, use File → Save As → Version → Save. CorelDRAW may ask whether to Keep appearance or Keep editable. Keeping appearance generally protects the visual result better, while keeping editable may allow more alteration but can change the way newer effects look. Older versions may not support newer effects, and font embedding is unavailable when saving to an earlier CorelDRAW version.
You can set a default save version through Tools → Options → CorelDRAW → Save → Set default version. Do not use an old-version save as your only master file.
Export through File → Export. Useful options include:
- Export this page only
- Export pages to separate files
- Selected only
- Do not show filter dialog
- Crop to page on export
Exporting leaves the original document open in its native format. That is different from Save As, which changes the file currently being worked on after the save. Save a CDR copy before exporting because formats such as JPEG, PNG, and PDF may not preserve every CorelDRAW feature.

Export settings for office documents
For a document intended for Microsoft Office or WordPerfect Office, use File → Export For → Office. The available choices include:

Layers are flattened when exporting to Microsoft Office or WordPerfect Office. For a painting portfolio or commercial print job, confirm the recipient’s required color mode, dimensions, bleed, and file format separately; the Office export presets are not a substitute for a printer’s specifications.
Export problems that catch people out
- With Crop to page on export enabled, artwork outside the page can be cut off in PNG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP, or PDF output.
- Objects on hidden layers can still appear in exported artwork unless printing and exporting are disabled for that layer.
- Export controls differ between formats, so a setting visible for one format may not exist for another.
- An expired trial cannot save or export files.
For a painting with a deliberate border or irregular edge, check the exported file before sending it. A border placed outside the page may be cropped.
Windows problems and practical fixes
CorelDRAW freezes when printing
If Ctrl+P causes a freeze, the default printer driver is a likely suspect. In Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. Turn off Let Windows manage my default printer, select Microsoft Print to PDF, and choose Set as default.
Try printing again. If CorelDRAW works with Microsoft Print to PDF, update or reinstall the physical printer’s driver rather than repeatedly reinstalling CorelDRAW.
Long pauses during opening, copying, or exporting
CorelDRAW asks the Windows default printer for page-size, resolution, and color-profile information. Consequently, a sleeping network printer, unavailable shared printer, damaged driver, or blocked Print Spooler can delay operations that do not appear related to printing. Corel documents that delays of 30 seconds or more can occur.

Testing with Microsoft Print to PDF as the default printer is a useful diagnostic. If the delay disappears, troubleshoot the printer connection and driver.
“Entry point not found,” MSVCP, or other DLL errors
A launch error such as CorelDRW.exe – Entry point not found can result from mismatched Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, damaged Windows system files, or leftover CorelDRAW components. Corel’s documented repair sequence is:
- Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
- Remove both the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable x64 and x86 entries.
- Restart Windows.
- Repair Windows with DISM and SFC.
- Install the current supported Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables in both x64 and x86 editions.
- Reinstall CorelDRAW from your Corel account.
Do not install only the x64 package by assumption: a 64-bit Windows system can still need both redistributable editions.
CorelDRAW disappears during startup
Corel documented a startup-disappearing issue that was fixed in an update released on August 2, 2023. That fix is included in later 2023 releases and newer versions, so it should not be treated as an unresolved general defect in the current 2026 release. Update the application before applying older workaround advice.

Is CorelDRAW useful for painters?
Yes, when the job extends beyond putting digital brushstrokes on a canvas. CorelDRAW is particularly strong for:
- Turning paintings into exhibition posters and price lists.
- Combining a scanned artwork with editable titles, dates, and contact details.
- Creating repeatable labels, borders, certificates, and packaging.
- Preparing scalable logos or signatures for a studio business.
- Arranging several paintings on portfolio or catalog pages.
- Making clean cutting, stencil, or sign-making artwork.
- Retouching and isolating photographed paintings in PHOTO-PAINT.
It is less appropriate if the only requirement is a natural-media painting application with extensive brush simulation. Its value for painters is the production stage around the artwork: cleanup, composition, typography, scaling, and delivery.

Is CorelDRAW Graphics Suite the same as CorelDRAW?
No. CorelDRAW is the vector illustration and page-layout application inside the suite. The Windows package also includes PHOTO-PAINT, Font Manager, and CAPTURE. CorelDRAW Web is available to subscribers, and exact contents vary by license.
Can CorelDRAW work without an internet connection?
Internet access is required for installation and authentication, and some included software, online features, and content also require it. It should not be described as a completely offline product.
