Adobe’s official Photoshop Chrome extension currently advertises six months of free access to Photoshop on the web for eligible users who install the extension and complete Adobe’s offer flow. The current Chrome Web Store listing says the promotion is available through October 6, 2026.
This is not the old 12-month promotion. That offer required activation by December 8, 2025, and should no longer be treated as current. The live offer, eligibility, and exact end date shown on your Adobe account are the details that matter.
What the Photoshop Chrome offer includes
Adobe’s official Chrome extension lets you work with images you find on webpages without first downloading and re-uploading them manually. You can select an image, open it in Photoshop on the web, and use browser-based editing tools such as cropping, color adjustments, background removal, and export.

The extension is published by Adobe, Inc. The current listing identifies version 1.0.19, updated July 17, 2026, and advertises six months of free Photoshop Web access through October 6, 2026.
The promotion is a limited entitlement attached to the extension and your Adobe account. It does not mean that Photoshop on the web has become permanently free, and it does not provide the full installed desktop Photoshop application.
How to claim the six-month offer
- Use Google Chrome on a computer. Adobe currently documents the extension for Chrome on Mac and Windows. It is not available on mobile devices.
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for Adobe Photoshop.
- Verify the publisher. The listing should say Adobe, Inc. Do not install an extension from an unofficial mirror or a similarly named publisher.
- Select Add to Chrome and approve the installation.
- Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin the Photoshop extension so its icon is easy to find.
- Sign in to your Adobe account when Adobe requests it.
- Follow the promotional offer shown by Adobe. Before completing the process, check the account or offer screen for the access period, eligibility conditions, and any information about what happens when the promotion ends.
- After activation, open an image from a webpage. Use the Photoshop badge that appears when you hover over the image, or right-click the image and choose Add to Photoshop Extension.
- Choose Edit in Photoshop on the web to open the image in the browser editor.
The exact entitlement can depend on your Adobe account and region. If the offer is not displayed after you sign in, do not assume that installing the extension alone has activated six months of access. The account screen and the current official Chrome Web Store listing are more reliable than an older article or a screenshot.
What happened to the 12-month Photoshop promotion?
Adobe’s earlier Chrome promotion offered 12 months of Photoshop on the web, but it was a separate, limited-time deal. Contemporary reports described an activation deadline of December 8, 2025. That deadline has passed.

Photoshop on the web includes many commonly used editing tools and Adobe generative-AI capabilities, making it suitable for tasks such as cropping, retouching, compositing, removing backgrounds, adjusting color, and preparing images for export.
It does not contain every feature available in desktop Photoshop. If a project depends on a desktop-only tool, plug-in, automation workflow, or highly specialized color and production feature, you may eventually need the installed application.
Your browser projects are stored as Adobe cloud documents. Adobe says these documents can be opened in Photoshop desktop or downloaded as image files. Keep that storage model in mind before you begin a large project, especially if you need an offline archive or a particular file format.

Is Photoshop on the web normally free?
Generally, no. Adobe’s Photoshop-on-the-web information says that users who want to upload and edit their own photos normally need a Photoshop plan or a free trial. The Chrome extension’s six-month access is a promotional exception, not a permanent free tier.
When the promotion ends, Adobe may offer a paid plan or another available trial, depending on your location and account. Adobe’s current U.S. plans page lists Photoshop at US$22.99 per month on an annual, billed-monthly plan. The extension’s ability to work with images on webpages is useful, but it also makes its permissions worth checking. A free promotion is not a reason to skip normal browser-security precautions.

For painters and other visual artists, the browser workflow can be useful for quick reference-image preparation rather than replacing a complete studio workflow. The extension does not appear after installation
Open Chrome’s Extensions menu, confirm that the extension is enabled, and pin it. If it is still missing, verify that you installed the listing published by Adobe, Inc. and restart Chrome.
The Photoshop badge does not appear over an image
Try right-clicking the image and selecting Add to Photoshop Extension. Some webpages use layouts, embedded viewers, or protected content that may prevent the hover badge from appearing. You can also try a different image or webpage.

Sign in to the Adobe account associated with the installation and look for the promotional prompt or entitlement details. The offer may be account- or region-dependent. Installing an extension by itself is not proof that the promotion has been activated.

Photoshop Web opens but asks me to subscribe
Check whether you are signed in to the correct Adobe account and whether you completed the promotional claim flow. If the offer is unavailable for that account or region, Adobe may show the normal plan or trial options instead.
Can I use the extension on my phone?
