Napkin AI turns text into editable visuals such as infographics, flowcharts, mind maps, and data charts. To get started, create an account on desktop, paste or import text, generate visual options, choose and customize one, then export it for its intended use. Review the result against your source before sharing it.
What Napkin AI does
Napkin Visuals generates diagrams, flowcharts, mind maps, infographics, data charts, and other visuals from text. Napkin’s product page describes its approach this way: “Forget prompting, Napkin works directly from your text.” That is Napkin’s product wording, not an independent evaluation.

Napkin also describes a separate product, Napkin Slides, for creating presentation decks; Slides is not the same workflow as generating an individual visual from selected text.
Napkin generates visuals from your content; it does not establish that the content or the visual is accurate. Compare the result with the source before publishing or presenting it.

Choose an export format
Napkin’s getting-started guide lists PNG, SVG, PPT, and PDF exports for an individual visual. The format choice depends on whether you need an image, a scalable graphic, a slide-oriented file, or a document for sharing or printing.
| Format or export | When it may fit | What Napkin documents |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | When you need a raster image for a page or presentation. | Individual visual export; Napkin says PNG export is unlimited on every plan. |
| SVG | When scalable vector output is useful. | Individual visual export; Napkin says Free has a limit and paid plans remove it. |
| PPT | For a PowerPoint-oriented workflow. | Individual visual export; Napkin says Free has a limit and paid plans remove it. |

Review the visual before using it
- Compare every label with the source text and correct errors or omissions.
- Check that the order, connections, and groupings represent the source accurately.
- Confirm that the visual does not add claims or certainty that the source does not support.
- Check readability at the size and in the context where you will use the export.
Napkin’s export help says some supported exports may contain machine-readable information indicating AI origin. Editing, converting, re-rendering, screenshotting, or otherwise handling a file can affect that information. Napkin also cautions that the absence of such information does not establish that a visual was made by a human. This machine-readable information is distinct from a visible watermark or any disclosure a publisher may need to provide.
