That distinction matters if you find an old article, bookmark, social-media post, or search result pointing to Knitmap. Why knitters used Knitmap

Knitmap’s place in the yarn-directory ecosystem
Knitmap was already an established reference point by the late 2000s. In a February 20, 2008 announcement about Ravelry’s own local-yarn-store directory, Ravelry compared its early volunteer-built, international directory with KnitMap and described KnitMap as the more polished experience at that time.
