What Adobe added to ChatGPT
The three integrations cover different jobs:
- Photoshop: conversational photo editing, such as replacing a background, removing an object, or adjusting lighting.
- Adobe Express: quick, template-based designs for invitations, flyers, social posts, and similar content.
- Adobe Acrobat: PDF editing and document-management tasks, including combining files, extracting information, converting documents, and redacting details.
The practical change is reduced friction. Instead of learning every tool before making a simple edit, you can describe the result you want in ChatGPT. When the job requires precise layers, advanced layout control, or more extensive document management, Adobe’s native web, mobile, or desktop applications remain the better environment.
Photoshop in ChatGPT: useful for prompt-based image edits
Photoshop for ChatGPT is aimed at people who want to make a specific image change without manually navigating Photoshop’s full interface.
You can upload an image and describe an edit such as:
- Remove a person, sign, or distracting object.
- Replace or generate a background.
- Change a particular object or person in the image.
- Adjust lighting, color, or the overall mood.
- Make additional changes after reviewing the first result.
A useful prompt is specific about both the subject and the desired result. For example:

Remove the clutter from the table, keep the ceramic vase, and replace the background with a softly lit neutral studio wall. Preserve the vase’s shape and natural shadow.
You can continue prompting for refinements, download the result, or open the work in Photoshop on the web or iOS for further editing. Adobe’s support documentation says users with a ChatGPT account, including free users, can try the experience and receive a complimentary number of AI edits each day.

What Photoshop in ChatGPT is—and is not
This is a conversational entry point to Photoshop capabilities, not the complete Photoshop application. It is well suited to a quick first pass or a straightforward correction. A native Photoshop workflow is still more appropriate when you need accurate selections, multiple editable layers, masks, detailed retouching, Camera Raw controls, repeatable automation, or professional color and export management.
For example, asking ChatGPT to remove a background may be faster than doing it manually. But if the cutout must be pixel-perfect for packaging, print, or a complex composite, you will probably want to inspect and refine it in Photoshop itself.
Adobe Express in ChatGPT: fast designs and templates
Adobe Express is the design-focused integration. It is intended for creating and revising practical visual content rather than building a complex, from-scratch production file.
Depending on availability and account limits, you can use it to:
- Browse templates for invitations, flyers, social graphics, and other occasions.
- Replace images and revise wording.
- Animate a design.
- Generate or modify a template.
- Rewrite content for a different tone or audience.
For a small business, for example, a prompt could request a square social post for a weekend sale, specify the brand colors, and ask for a short headline. You can then ask for a less formal version, a different image, or a layout better suited to a particular platform.
Free Express usage is limited
Adobe’s current Express documentation distinguishes between ordinary prompting and actions that consume the free plan’s daily generation allowance. Free users receive a limited daily allotment of generations. Actions that may use that allowance include generating an image, generating a template, removing or inserting an object, expanding a resize, and rewriting content.

Not every interaction necessarily consumes a generation. Adobe says ordinary prompting, some manual edits, certain edits, and some non-premium searches may not count in the same way. The exact allowance and available features can change, so a free account should not be treated as having unlimited generations.
The Express free plan also has limits around assets, generative features, and storage. Adobe identifies 5 GB of storage and basic editing as part of the free plan, with broader assets and capabilities available through paid plans. A premium template, asset, or advanced feature may still require the appropriate plan even when the ChatGPT integration itself is available.
Adobe Acrobat in ChatGPT: practical PDF and document work
Acrobat for ChatGPT is the most useful of the three integrations for administrative, school, career, and business-document tasks.
Adobe describes workflows including:
- Editing PDFs.
- Extracting text or tables.
- Organizing and merging files.
- Compressing PDFs.
- Converting files to PDF.
- Redacting sensitive details.
One practical example is a job application. You could provide a resume, cover letter, references, and portfolio files, ask Acrobat to combine them into one PDF, and then request revisions to the cover letter before producing the final document.
For a reliable result, review the output yourself. Check the page order, fonts, links, table extraction, image quality, page orientation, and file size. If you use redaction, confirm that sensitive content is genuinely removed rather than merely covered visually, and inspect the final PDF before sharing it.
As with Photoshop and Express, the ChatGPT integration should not be confused with the full Acrobat product. Advanced document controls, storage arrangements, security options, and paid features may depend on the Acrobat plan and the way the service is connected.

How to connect an Adobe app to ChatGPT
The labels can change as ChatGPT’s app system evolves, but the current general process is:
- Open ChatGPT and sign in.
- Open the app directory, or go to Settings > Apps. Some interfaces may use the older wording Settings > Apps & Connectors.
- Search for Photoshop, Adobe Express, or Adobe Acrobat.
- Select the relevant Adobe app and click Connect.
- Complete the authorization or OAuth flow if ChatGPT requests it.
- Start a chat and invoke the connected app using an @ mention or the plus-menu app selector.
- Upload the image or document, then describe one concrete task at a time.
If an Adobe app does not appear, the absence may reflect your country, ChatGPT plan, workspace administrator settings, app configuration, or a temporary availability restriction. At launch, Adobe said the three integrations were available on ChatGPT desktop, the web, and iOS. Adobe also said Express was available on Android, while Photoshop and Acrobat support for Android was planned for later. That was a dated launch-time description, not a permanent compatibility guarantee.
For current support, use the app directory shown in your own ChatGPT account. OpenAI notes that individual apps and capabilities can vary according to plan, geography, workspace settings, and partner configuration.

- Availability is not universal. An app may not be offered in every region, workspace, or account configuration.
