Affinity Suite 2.5.7 is not one application. It refers to the V2 versions of Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Designer 2, and Affinity Publisher 2. Released as a maintenance update, 2.5.7 is chiefly associated with PDF-export fixes rather than major new features.
As of August 18, 2026, it is an older archival build, not the current Affinity recommendation for new users. Serif’s official archives still list 2.5.7 for some desktop channels, while the current product direction is a unified Affinity application that combines photo editing, vector design, and page layout.

What “Affinity Suite 2.5.7” means
The name commonly describes three related V2 applications:
- Affinity Photo 2.5.7: raster editing, retouching, compositing, and image processing.
- Affinity Designer 2.5.7: vector illustration and graphic design.
- Affinity Publisher 2.5.7: page layout and desktop publishing.
Each had its own installer and application identity. The former V2 Universal License covered all three applications across supported Windows, macOS, and iPadOS devices. In Publisher, StudioLink could provide Photo and Designer tools inside the layout application when the relevant apps were installed, licensed, and configured consistently.
On Windows, the technical build may appear as 2.5.7.2948, but the reader-facing version is generally shown as 2.5.7. See Serif’s Photo archive, Designer archive, and Publisher archive.
What changed in version 2.5.7?
The principal documented purpose of the 2.5.7 patch was to address PDF-export problems. Contemporary Affinity forum material identifies a desktop PDF-export fix, while the official Designer iPad announcement specifically describes a correction involving missing ICC colour profiles.

Those reports should not be expanded into a claim that every desktop application received exactly the same ICC-profile fix. Desktop, macOS, Windows, and iPad releases can have different change lists. In practical terms, 2.5.7 should be regarded as a maintenance release focused on export reliability, not as a major feature release. Is Affinity 2.5.7 the latest version?
No. Serif’s V2 archives list releases later than 2.5.7. The former three-app V2 line has also been superseded in the current product direction by a unified Affinity application that brings together vector design, photo editing, and page layout.
Serif describes the newer Affinity application as free for everyone and supporting formats including PSD, AI, PDF, SVG, TIFF, and IDML. It is not automatically a perfect drop-in replacement for every V2 document or production workflow, so established users should test migration before changing a validated system. Where to download Affinity 2.5.7
Use Serif’s official previous-version archives rather than third-party mirrors. Availability can change, and an archived download does not guarantee activation in every future environment or compatibility with newly released operating systems.

For iPad, treat the release as a separate product channel. Desktop release notes do not automatically describe the iPad build.
Choosing the correct Windows installer
x64 or ARM64
- Intel or AMD PC: choose x64.
- Windows on Arm: choose ARM64 where available.
- Windows on Arm can run x64 applications through emulation, but Serif identifies native ARM64 builds as the preferred choice for those devices.
- Intel- and AMD-based PCs cannot use ARM64 builds.
MSIX or MSI/EXE
Serif recommends MSIX for a normal installation. MSI/EXE can be more suitable for corporate deployment or troubleshooting when MSIX installation fails.
Install Photo, Designer, and Publisher using the same installer family. Mixing MSIX and MSI/EXE installations across the suite is not recommended and is unsupported; inconsistent installation types can prevent Publisher’s StudioLink integration from working correctly. Installation checklist
- Identify whether the computer uses Intel/AMD x64 or Windows on Arm.
- Choose either MSIX or MSI/EXE for all three applications.
- Download the 2.5.7 entry from Serif’s official archive.
- Install the applications and sign in with the Affinity account associated with the V2 license if activation is requested.
- Open each application’s About, account, or preferences area and confirm the installed version.
- Test a duplicate of a representative project before using the build for production.
Test fonts, linked resources, colour profiles, PDF export, StudioLink, and files stored on cloud or network locations. The exact activation labels may differ by platform and store edition; Serif’s V2 account help is the appropriate reference for licensing and redownload questions.

System requirements and operating-system support
Do not use old V1 requirements as evidence for V2 compatibility. Some legacy Affinity help pages mention systems such as Windows 7 and macOS Mavericks, but those pages are not adequate for determining whether 2.5.7 is supported on a current operating system.
Check the technical-requirements link shown on Serif’s current V2 archive for the relevant platform—Windows, macOS, or iPadOS. The available archive material does not establish a complete version-specific requirements table here, so do not assume that an installer launching means that the operating system is officially supported. In particular, avoid claiming compatibility with Windows 11, recent macOS releases, or newer iPadOS versions without current official evidence.
Compatibility with later files
Downgrading is the main risk. A document saved by a later V2 build may not open in 2.5.7. Affinity forum guidance explicitly warns that documents saved in 2.6.0 will not open in 2.5.7.
Before installing the older build:
- Duplicate the working file and keep the original untouched.
- Do not overwrite a legacy copy with a file saved by a newer application.
- Preserve neutral exports such as PDF, SVG, TIFF, PSD, or PNG where appropriate.
- Keep fonts and linked assets available, subject to their licensing terms.
- Use the same tested version across a collaborative team.
- Open a representative file in 2.5.7 before downgrading a production machine.
If a file was saved in 2.6.x, do not promise that 2.5.7 can open it. Consult the Affinity downgrade guidance.

When should you use 2.5.7?

Use 2.5.7 when a specific compatibility, archival, or reproducibility requirement justifies it. Prefer a later V2 build when you need subsequent fixes or collaborators already use one. Prefer the current unified Affinity when you are starting fresh and want the actively promoted product direction.
Troubleshooting
The installer will not run
Check the processor architecture and confirm that you selected the intended installer family. On Windows, try MSI/EXE for deployment or troubleshooting if MSIX fails. Avoid mixing installer types between the three applications.
StudioLink is missing
Confirm that Photo, Designer, and Publisher are all installed, activated under the appropriate account or license, and installed using the same Windows package type. Simply installing Publisher does not necessarily provide the full Photo and Designer StudioLink tools.
PDF export still fails
Version 2.5.7 does not guarantee correct output in every document. Check missing fonts, linked resources, colour profiles, document structure, language settings, graphics drivers, and operating-system factors. Test a simple document and compare its PDF with the original project; the available save/export discussion records problems that were not necessarily solved by one update.

A file will not open after downgrading
Stop saving over it. Restore the newer original or backup, export an interchange format if possible, and test conversion on a copy. Later-version native documents may be incompatible with 2.5.7.
Bottom line
Affinity 2.5.7 is a real V2 release for Photo, Designer, and Publisher, and official archives may still provide its installers. It is an old maintenance build whose principal documented purpose was PDF-export correction—not the current Affinity product. Download it only from Serif, match the Windows architecture and installer type, and protect your files before downgrading.
