Its 10,000 mm/s maximum listed speed is a manufacturer specification, not a promise for every job; the small work area, workflow limitations reported in a 2025 review, and safety setup all matter when deciding whether it fits your workshop.

These wattage figures do not make the LP5 equivalent to a 40W laser of another type. The sources interact with materials differently, and compatibility does not mean every material or coating is safe or suitable to process. Consult the manufacturer’s manual and use an appropriate workspace.
LaserPecker lists a maximum working speed of 10,000 mm/s. That is a manufacturer-listed ceiling, not independently established throughput for every material, image, resolution, or job. Tom’s Hardware described the machine as fast, while also reporting that software and settings limited the experience.

The small standard area is a central limitation for large signs, panels, or high-volume batches. The Slide Extension expands the listed area, but confirm current compatibility and bundle contents with LaserPecker before ordering.

What a 2025 review found
Tom’s Hardware reviewer Denise Bertacchi published a review on April 13, 2025. The review praised the LP5’s combination of diode and fiber lasers, speed, portability, and live preview. It also criticized the limited cutting area, lack of air assist and onboard interface, and clunky software. The reviewer reported that wood engraving could produce smoke and charring, requiring adjustment and sanding. These are findings from that review, not tests conducted for this article.

Software and controls deserve particular attention before purchase. Tom’s Hardware reported that useful information such as job time was missing and characterized the software workflow as clunky. Although LaserPecker lists LightBurn compatibility, the cited review’s reported experience should not be treated as a test of every current software version or workflow.

Safety and setup
In its 2025 review, Tom’s Hardware reported a small gap in the supplied protective shielding and said safety glasses were needed for people in the room unless the custom enclosure was used. This is the reviewer’s observation about the tested configuration, not a substitute for current manufacturer safety instructions. Follow the manual for the machine and materials, and assess eyewear, enclosure, ventilation, and extraction needs for your workspace.
LaserPecker lists a Safety Enclosure as an accessory and says the camera module comes with the enclosure rather than current LP5 bundles. Bundle contents can change, so check the live listing for your region. An enclosure does not remove the need to follow safety instructions or manage smoke and fire risks appropriately.

Who should consider the LP5?
Consider it if your projects need both fiber and diode laser sources, mostly involve small objects, and suit the LP5’s compact standard work area. Its live preview and portability were among the strengths noted by Tom’s Hardware’s reviewer.
Compare alternatives if you need a larger work area, batch capacity, air assist, or a more straightforward software and control experience. The LP5’s dual sources broaden its material range, but do not establish that every material will work reliably or that it can replace a larger machine for all jobs.
