Yes—sometimes. Deleted ibisPaint artwork can be recovered if another copy still exists in ibisPaint Cloud Storage, the Online Gallery, an IPV backup, a device backup, another device, or the artwork’s recorded time-lapse history. If the only local copy was deleted and none of those sources contains it, ibisPaint’s official support says it cannot be restored.
Before trying anything, do not uninstall ibisPaint, clear app data, reset the device, or delete anything from Cloud Storage. If the artwork still appears on another device, preserve that copy first.
First identify what was deleted
“Deleted artwork” can describe several different situations:
- The entire project disappeared from My Gallery.
- The device copy was deleted, but the project remains in Cloud Storage.
- The artwork was deleted from both the device and Cloud Storage.
- ibisPaint was uninstalled, reset, or moved to another device.
- A layer was deleted inside an artwork that still opens.
- The project is present but marked damaged or corrupted.
These cases have different recovery routes. Start with the least destructive checks below.

1. Recover the artwork from ibisPaint Cloud Storage
This is the best solution when the artwork was removed from the device but was previously synchronized. ibisPaint says artwork deleted from a device can be downloaded again from Cloud Storage when the cloud copy was retained.
- Open ibisPaint and go to Cloud Synchronization from the title screen or main settings area.
- Accept the terms if prompted and sign in.
- Use the same authentication account that was used when the artwork was synchronized.
- Open My Gallery and allow synchronization to finish.
- Find the missing project and download or restore it to the device.
Menu names can differ slightly between iPhone/iPad, Android, Windows, and Mac versions. See ibisPaint’s official Cloud Synchronization guide and Cloud Storage information.
What happens when you delete an artwork?
When deleting a synchronized artwork from the device, ibisPaint may ask whether to delete it from Cloud Storage too. Choosing No removes only the device copy. Choosing Yes deletes both copies. The Cloud Synchronization guide warns that deleting artwork from Cloud Storage is immediate and permanent.

If the same project remains on another device, deleting its Cloud Storage copy can stop synchronization for that surviving local copy.
2. If Cloud Storage is empty
An empty cloud library does not always prove that the artwork is gone. Check these possibilities:
- Wrong login: You may have used an ibisAccount, X, Facebook, Apple Account, or a Google-related account previously. Try the account method you originally used, rather than creating a new account.
- Different purchase account: The account used for a Premium purchase is not necessarily the authentication account used for Cloud Storage.
- Synchronization was never enabled: Artwork stored only locally was not automatically uploaded.
- Synchronization was incomplete: A large project, weak connection, low storage, or the device going to sleep may have prevented upload.
- Different edition or platform library: Confirm that you are using the appropriate ibisPaint version and the same account on the new device.
- Deletion or retention rules: The cloud copy may have been permanently deleted or removed under the service’s storage policies.
ibisPaint currently lists Cloud Storage limits of 64 MB for non-Premium users and 20 GB for Premium users. Its documentation also describes inactivity and expired-Premium rules that can affect stored artwork. These are service policies and may change; check the current official Cloud Storage page before relying on them.
When synchronization is stuck
- Keep My Gallery open until synchronization completes.
- Use a reliable Wi-Fi connection. ibisPaint is configured by default to synchronize over Wi-Fi.
- Use the option to prevent the device from sleeping during synchronization, if shown.
- Check available device storage and Cloud Storage capacity.
- If a stopped-synchronization icon indicates insufficient cloud space, tap the artwork thumbnail and choose Update after making enough room.
Do not uninstall the app or clear its data as a troubleshooting step while an unsynchronized local copy may still exist.

3. Download a copy from the ibisPaint Online Gallery
Cloud Storage and the Online Gallery are separate. Uploading artwork to Cloud Storage does not automatically publish it to the Online Gallery, and a project may exist in one service but not the other.
If you posted the artwork publicly, you may be able to retrieve an editable IPV copy:
- Open the ibisPaint Online Gallery in a browser.
- Sign in to My Page using the account that submitted the artwork.
- Open the artwork’s details page.
- Select Download.
- Save the downloaded
.ipvfile. - Open the file with ibisPaint.
This restores the version that was uploaded—not necessarily the latest version on your device. Edits made after publication are absent unless they were uploaded or backed up separately. ibisPaint’s official recovery FAQ describes this method and its limitations.
4. Restore an IPV backup
An IPV file is ibisPaint’s artwork-file format. Unlike a PNG, JPEG, or screenshot, it is intended to preserve the project’s editable artwork data, including its layer structure where supported by the file.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Search these locations:
- Files or Downloads
- iCloud Drive
- Google Drive or Dropbox
- Email attachments
- A computer backup
- External storage
- A manually copied ibisPaint folder
- An older phone or tablet
To import one, locate the .ipv file in the device’s file manager, tap it, and choose ibisPaint or ibisPaint X from the share/open-with menu. Confirm the import, then check My Gallery.
As soon as it opens, export or copy a second IPV file somewhere outside the app. An IPV backup is only useful if it exists and is not damaged, and it may represent an older point in the project.
5. Recover a deleted layer from time-lapse history
If the artwork itself still opens but a layer or drawing element was accidentally deleted, ibisPaint’s recorded time-lapse can sometimes produce an earlier version.

- Open the artwork’s time-lapse or playback history.
- Set playback speed to 1×.
- Play until shortly before the layer or content was deleted.
- Pause at the desired point.
- Open the three-dot menu.
- Choose Save Artwork at This Point.
- Save the result as a separate artwork.
This is not a universal undelete or ordinary Undo command. It requires the project and relevant history to remain available, and the recovered result is a past-state copy rather than necessarily a restored layer inside the original project. The method is documented in ibisPaint’s official time-lapse recovery FAQ.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →6. Try ibisPaint’s repair option for a corrupted project
A project marked Corrupted file has not necessarily been deleted. ibisPaint’s synchronization guide says tapping the artwork’s thumbnail in My Gallery may offer a restoration process, although recovery depends on the extent of the damage.
- Do not delete the damaged thumbnail.
- Make sure the device has sufficient free storage.
- Open My Gallery.
- Tap the affected artwork’s thumbnail.
- Follow the available restore prompt.
- If it opens, immediately export an IPV copy and save another copy outside ibisPaint.
If restoration fails, check for an IPV export, Online Gallery version, cloud copy, device backup, or surviving copy on another device.
7. Recover artwork after uninstalling ibisPaint or changing devices
Reinstalling ibisPaint does not automatically restore projects that existed only in local app storage. Recovery still depends on a cloud copy, external export, device backup, old device, Online Gallery post, or usable history.
If the old device still works
- Do not erase or reset it.
- Export important projects as IPV files.
- Enable Cloud Synchronization and wait for it to complete.
- On the new device, install the compatible ibisPaint edition.
- Sign in with the same authentication account.
- Open Cloud Synchronization and wait for the library to download.
- Open several recovered projects before deleting anything from the old device.
ibisPaint supports iPhone/iPad, Android, Windows, and Mac, but platform and edition details matter. Its official product page lists current platform information.
Device backups
An iCloud, Android, computer, or other device backup may contain ibisPaint data, but inclusion and restoration behavior are platform-dependent. Check whether the backup predates the deletion and what it will overwrite before restoring it. If possible, preserve the current device first so that a restore does not replace newer data.
ibisPaint also distinguishes artwork files from settings backups. An .ipcfg file can relate to settings transfer; it is not the same as an IPV artwork file.

What PNGs, screenshots, and videos can—and cannot—recover
A PNG, JPEG, screenshot, or exported time-lapse video can preserve the visible appearance of an artwork. It generally cannot restore the original editable layer stack, layer names, blend modes, masks, or project structure.
For editable recovery, prefer an IPV file, Cloud Storage project, Online Gallery download, or a historical artwork state saved from ibisPaint’s time-lapse.
Recommended Free Tools
When recovery is probably impossible
After checking every possible location, recovery is unlikely if all of the following are true:
- The artwork is not in Cloud Storage.
- It was never posted to the Online Gallery.
- No IPV export exists.
- No device backup contains it.
- No old device or duplicate copy remains.
- The relevant time-lapse history is unavailable.
- The artwork was permanently deleted from Cloud Storage.
ibisPaint’s official FAQ states that artwork cannot be restored when it was not posted online, synchronized to Cloud Storage, or included in another backup. Avoid relying on third-party “undelete” apps as a guaranteed solution; the official ibisPaint documentation does not establish a reliable general recovery method for them.
Does Premium recover deleted artwork?
No. Premium can increase Cloud Storage capacity from the listed free allowance of 64 MB to up to 20 GB, which may help prevent future loss or synchronize larger libraries. It does not establish that an artwork already permanently deleted from Cloud Storage can be recovered, and Cloud Storage does not synchronize custom brushes, palettes, and every other app setting.
If you only need occasional protection, saving IPV files to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, a computer, or external storage may be more appropriate than relying on a paid upgrade.

- Enable Cloud Synchronization and wait for each important project to finish uploading.
- Export irreplaceable projects as IPV files.
- Keep those files outside ibisPaint, preferably in two separate locations.
- Periodically open a backup to confirm it works.
- Before switching devices, preserve the old device and verify recovered projects.
- Back up custom brushes, palettes, and settings separately if they matter to your workflow.
- Do not treat a screenshot or finished PNG as a substitute for an editable project backup.

No guarantee. Premium increases Cloud Storage capacity, but it is not an undelete service.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
