Blender 3.4.1 is a corrective release, not a feature release. Published on December 20, 2022, it fixed more than 35 reported issues in Blender 3.4, including crashes and functionality problems, without introducing a new feature set. In 2026, it is a historical version: use it when an older project, add-on, operating system, or reproducibility requirement specifically calls for Blender 3.4.x. For new work, choose a current stable or LTS release instead.
What is Blender 3.4.1?
Blender 3.4.1 is the first corrective maintenance update for Blender 3.4, which was released on December 7, 2022. Blender 3.4.1 followed on December 20, 2022, roughly two weeks later.
The official announcement describes the update as a corrective release containing fixes only. It addressed more than 35 issues found in the original Blender 3.4 release. It was recommended at the time for people already using Blender 3.4 because it improved stability and functionality.

What changed in Blender 3.4.1?
- It fixed more than 35 reported issues.
- Fixes covered crashes and functional problems.
- The release announcement presented it as a corrective update, not a feature update.
- It did not introduce a new headline feature set over Blender 3.4.
For the issue-by-issue details, consult the historical Blender 3.4 corrective-release changelog. The short announcement is useful for understanding the release’s purpose, but it is not a complete technical list of every fix.
Is Blender 3.4.1 still current?
No. Blender 3.4.1 is now a historical release and is no longer the current development target. Blender’s release archive keeps older versions available, while recommending the latest stable release for general use and production.
That does not make 3.4.1 useless. An older version can be the correct choice when consistency matters more than access to current features. The important distinction is between compatibility value and feature value: Blender 3.4.1 may reproduce an established workflow, but it does not provide the maintenance or capabilities of a current release.

| Version | Role | Best understood as |
|---|---|---|
| Blender 3.3 LTS | Long-term-support branch | A stability-focused branch maintained through its scheduled support period, which ran through September 2024 |
| Blender 3.4.1 | Corrective release | A fixed version of the Blender 3.4 feature branch |
Calling Blender 3.4.1 “Blender 3.4 LTS” is incorrect. If you need long-term maintenance for a new project, compare current LTS options instead of selecting 3.4.1 merely because it is an older version.

Warm tips: We encourage you to relax your palm and hold the mouse naturally when using a vertical mouse
- Learning curve: Since it takes a learning curve to get used to the shape when using our ergonomic mouse for the first time, it may cause inconvenience to your mouse grip, We recommend that you take 1-2 weeks to get used to it, as many users find that it will help reduce the pressure and pain on your wrist caused by long-term use of the mouse and improve comfort
Should you install Blender 3.4.1?
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| You are starting a new project | Use a current stable or LTS release. |
| You already use Blender 3.4 | Use 3.4.1 rather than the original 3.4, provided your pipeline is compatible. |
| A required add-on explicitly supports Blender 3.4 | Install 3.4.1 and use the add-on version documented for that release. |
| You must reproduce an older render or benchmark | Match the historical Blender version and, where possible, its render and system environment. |
| A studio pipeline is locked to Blender 3.4 | Use 3.4.1 if the pipeline has been tested with it. |
| You want current features, documentation, and community support | Choose a newer stable or LTS release. |
| You need to maintain old and new projects | Keep Blender versions installed side by side. |
Where to download Blender 3.4.1
Use Blender’s official download infrastructure:
Select the package for your operating system and architecture. Do not rely on a third-party mirror, repackaged installer, or unofficial “cracked” build when maintaining a production environment. The exact packages available can vary by platform, so check the archive directly rather than assuming every distribution is present.
Blender itself is free and open-source. Optional add-ons, training, asset libraries, cloud rendering, and hardware are separate products; you do not need to purchase a subscription to run Blender 3.4.1.
System requirements and compatibility
Blender 3.4 supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. Blender’s current requirements information identifies historical limits for the 3.4 series, including macOS 10.13 support and Linux systems using glibc 2.17, such as RHEL 7-class environments.
These are version-family details, not a complete Blender 3.4.1-specific compatibility matrix. Patch-level behavior can also depend on the exact build, operating system, graphics driver, and hardware.

Cycles GPU rendering has additional requirements. A GPU that works with a newer Blender release may not behave identically in 3.4.1. Check the official requirements page, keep graphics drivers current where appropriate, and test the actual render device you intend to use. Apple Silicon users should also verify whether the available historical package requires native execution, Rosetta, or an Intel build.
Install it safely alongside a newer Blender version
- Back up the
.blendfile, linked libraries, textures, simulations, caches, fonts, and custom scripts. - Download Blender 3.4.1 from the official archive.
- Install or unpack it in a separate directory rather than replacing a working current installation.
- Use separate preferences and add-on configurations for the legacy and current versions.
- Open a copy of the project first.
- Test the render engine, compositor, exports, Python scripts, simulations, and external assets.
- Only move production work after the complete workflow has been validated.
Blender supports portable use, which can be useful for preserving a legacy installation without allowing its preferences and add-ons to interfere with a newer version. The goal is isolation: an old project should not silently inherit settings intended for a different Blender release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Project-file compatibility
Do not assume that a .blend file saved by a newer Blender version will open correctly in Blender 3.4.1. Newer files may contain data, nodes, modifiers, or features that the older version does not understand. Compatibility is not guaranteed across releases.
Recommended Free Tools
Always preserve the original file and test a copy in the target version. If a project must be delivered to someone using 3.4.1, save and validate it in that target version before distribution.

For a complete project test, check:
- Render engine, samples, denoising, and color management
- Linked libraries and external textures
- Geometry Nodes, modifiers, compositing, and scene settings
- Simulation, particle, and cache files
- Fonts, HDRIs, and other external dependencies
- Frame range, output settings, and export formats
Add-ons and Python scripts
An add-on’s compatibility is determined by its developer, not by Blender’s version number alone. An add-on built for Blender 3.4 may fail in an older or newer release, while a newer add-on may depend on API features unavailable in 3.4.1.
Python scripts can also depend on renamed operators, changed data structures, or different dependencies. Use the add-on version documented for Blender 3.4, test scripts in a disposable project, and check the developer’s compatibility notes. Do not force-install an add-on designed only for a newer release.
Troubleshooting Blender 3.4.1
Blender will not launch
- Confirm that you downloaded the correct operating-system package and architecture.
- Check graphics drivers and the historical system requirements.
- Try launching with factory settings or a clean configuration.
- Test an empty file to distinguish a startup problem from a damaged project.
An add-on causes errors
- Disable third-party add-ons and restart Blender.
- Install the add-on version intended for Blender 3.4.
- Check for missing Python dependencies.
- Re-enable add-ons one at a time to identify the conflict.
The project opens but looks different
Compare color management, render-engine settings, linked assets, external textures, modifier behavior, add-on state, simulation caches, and frame settings. A matching Blender version alone does not guarantee an identical scene.
The render does not match
Preserve the original CPU or GPU rendering mode, driver version, render samples, denoising settings, color-management configuration, compositor, textures, HDRIs, fonts, and caches. Differences in any of these can change the result.
Final verdict
Blender 3.4.1 is the corrected version of Blender 3.4: a December 2022 maintenance release with more than 35 fixes and no new feature set. It is not an LTS release and should not be the default choice for new work in 2026. Install it when a legacy project, add-on, operating system, script, or reproducibility requirement demands Blender 3.4.x. Otherwise, use a current stable or LTS version.
