Yes, Adobe Firefly can process multiple images in one operation—but “Bulk Create” is mostly a historical name. Adobe’s current documentation presents the feature as Firefly Creative Production, with preset bulk actions for resizing, cropping, background removal or replacement, and color grading. It is primarily an enterprise capability, not a universal tool for applying any Firefly generative prompt to an entire folder.

What happened to Adobe Firefly Bulk Create?

Adobe introduced “Bulk Create, powered by Firefly Services” as a beta for editing large volumes of images. The current Adobe interface and documentation generally refer to the capability as Creative Production, Production, or bulk actions. The label you see can vary by account and interface version.

That distinction matters. Standard Firefly editing tools such as Generative Fill, Generative Remove, Generative Expand, and AI Markup are documented primarily for individual-image editing. Creative Production provides selected, repeatable production workflows for batches.

Which edits can Firefly perform in bulk?

Task Documented in bulk? Important qualification
Resize Yes Includes focal-point control and optional Generative Expand.
Crop Yes Uses preset production workflows.
Remove background Yes Supports JPG, PNG, and TIFF input in Adobe’s background workflow.
Replace background Yes Use an uploaded background image or a solid color.
Color grade Yes Adobe lists Auto-tone and custom presets.
Reframe video Yes, beta This is a video workflow, not an image-editing feature.
Apply one arbitrary generative prompt to every image Do not assume so Adobe’s public Creative Production documentation does not establish a universal folder-wide prompt workflow.

In other words, Firefly can standardize a production action, but that does not mean it can reproduce a retoucher’s individual creative decisions across every image.

Who can access Creative Production?

Creative Production requires an organizational Firefly Services or Firefly Creative Production entitlement. An administrator must assign access through the Adobe Admin Console.

A paid individual Firefly plan does not automatically include enterprise bulk actions. If you can use Firefly’s normal editor but cannot find Creative Production or Production, confirm that:

  • Your organization owns the required entitlement.
  • You are signed in to the correct Adobe organization.
  • An administrator has assigned the service to your account.

Adobe currently documents Creative Production as desktop-only, with a minimum display width of 768 pixels and English as the supported language. Mobile access is not currently supported.

How to resize multiple images

Adobe’s documented Resize workflow is:

  1. Sign in to Firefly with an entitled organizational account.
  2. Open Creative Production on the Firefly homepage. Some accounts may show Production.
  3. Select Resize.
  4. Upload images under Original images from your device or a supported cloud-storage connection.
  5. Review the automatically detected focal area for each image.
  6. Select an image and choose Edit focal area if the subject is framed incorrectly.
  7. Leave Apply GenExpand enabled if AI-generated fill is acceptable for uncovered areas. Use Preview with GenExpand when necessary.
  8. Review the expected output and post-processing item count.
  9. Select Continue, enter a job name, and choose JPG or PNG output.
  10. Select Process.
  11. Track the job in Job log, or use the download link Adobe sends by email.

Resize is not equally predictable in every case. Ordinary scaling and cropping are more deterministic. Generative Expand can create plausible surrounding content, but it may invent details that are unsuitable for factual scenes, product imagery, documents, or regulated advertising.

How to remove or replace backgrounds in bulk

For Adobe’s background workflow:

  1. Open Production or Creative Production.
  2. Choose Remove background.
  3. Upload JPG, PNG, or TIFF files from your device or a supported storage connector.
  4. Choose a transparent result, an uploaded replacement background, or a solid-color background.
  5. Review any available edge and subject-detection controls.
  6. Process the batch and download the result set.

Adobe states that the longest side of a replacement background image must not exceed 8,190 pixels. Inspect the outputs carefully around hair, fur, lace, mesh, cables, glass, transparent packaging, shadows, reflections, fine text, and subjects that closely match their original background.

Limits, credits, and pricing

Resize limits

For the documented Resize workflow, Adobe lists:

  • Up to 1,000 images per upload.
  • JPEG and PNG input.
  • Up to 100 MB per file.
  • JPG or PNG output.
  • Individual focal-area correction before processing.
  • Availability for Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise Plan users.

These are workflow-specific limits, not guaranteed limits for every Creative Production action.

Enterprise operations are not ordinary Firefly credits

Adobe says Creative Production tasks are counted against the organization’s available operations under its Firefly Services API contract, with usage based on task complexity. Ask your Adobe administrator how a particular workflow is metered.

That is different from consumer Firefly plans, which use monthly generative-credit allocations. On Adobe’s pricing page, observed August 18, 2026, the listed plans were Firefly Standard at US$9.99 per month, Firefly Pro at US$19.99, Firefly Pro Plus at US$49.99 regular pricing, and Firefly Premium at US$199.99 regular pricing. The page showed 2,000, 4,000, 10,000, and 50,000 monthly credits respectively, with promotional first-year prices for the two higher tiers. Prices, promotions, taxes, regions, and billing terms can change; see the live Adobe Firefly plans page. None of these consumer prices should be treated as automatic access to Creative Production.

Quality-control checklist

Run a small pilot before submitting a large catalog or campaign:

  • Include difficult images, not only clean examples.
  • Check automatically detected focal points and correct them where needed.
  • Inspect background-removal edges at final delivery size.
  • Verify product labels, text, reflections, and shadows.
  • Review every area created by Generative Expand.
  • Confirm dimensions, color treatment, file formats, filenames, and output count.
  • Archive the originals and record the job name, date, settings, reviewer, and download location.
  • Keep a rollback or reprocessing plan for failed assets.

Batch processing reduces repetitive work; it does not make every output publication-ready. For high-value product imagery, keep a manual Photoshop or retouching review step.

Common failures and fixes

Upload fails

Check the action-specific format and size rules, split the batch, and test one or two representative files. If a cloud connector fails, upload directly from the device. Preserve original filenames and maintain a submission manifest.

Focal points are wrong

Multiple products, edge-positioned subjects, faces, animals, transparent objects, reflective surfaces, and large blank backgrounds can confuse automatic detection. Use Edit focal area before processing.

Generative Expand invents unwanted content

Disable Apply GenExpand where possible, choose a non-generative crop or different ratio, adjust the focal area, or reprocess only the affected assets in a manual editor.

Creative Production is missing

Confirm the entitlement, organization, and Admin Console assignment with your Adobe administrator. A normal Firefly subscription is not proof that enterprise production tools are enabled.

When another Adobe or media tool is better

Tool Best fit
Photoshop Layered files, detailed masking, manual retouching, precise corrections, and Actions-based batch work.
Lightroom Presets, batch exposure and color adjustments, photo-library management, and large exports.
Adobe Express Templates, social graphics, quick resizing, and non-specialist marketing production.
Firefly Services APIs Custom DAM, catalog, commerce, and marketing integrations that need automated pipelines.
Cloudinary URL-based transformations, responsive variants, CDN delivery, and developer-controlled media workflows.

Choose Creative Production when you need Adobe-native, no-code batch workflows and your organization already has the appropriate service entitlement. Choose Photoshop or Lightroom when control matters more than a shared production queue. Choose Firefly Services APIs or a platform such as Cloudinary when the transformation must run inside a DAM, commerce system, or automated delivery pipeline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Firefly Bulk Create available on the free plan?

Not as documented Creative Production bulk actions. The current workflow requires an organizational Firefly Services or Firefly Creative Production entitlement assigned through Adobe Admin Console.

Can I apply one prompt to multiple images?

Do not assume that you can. Adobe documents preset bulk actions, but not a universal feature that applies any arbitrary generative prompt to an entire folder.

Can I batch-remove backgrounds?

Yes. Adobe documents bulk background removal and replacement for JPG, PNG, and TIFF files, with transparent, solid-color, or uploaded-image backgrounds.

Does Generative Expand work on every resized image?

It is an optional Resize feature, not a guarantee of suitable results. Review generated areas and disable it when factual accuracy matters.

Are bulk edits included in ordinary Firefly generative credits?

Creative Production usage is metered through organization-wide Firefly Services contract operations, not simply the monthly consumer credit allowance.

Is Creative Production available on mobile?

Adobe’s current overview documents the experience as desktop-only, with a minimum display width of 768 pixels.

What should I use for detailed product retouching?

Use Photoshop or a professional retouching workflow when you need layered files, precise masks, controlled shadows, or pixel-level corrections.

How do I get access if Production is missing?

Ask your Adobe administrator to confirm the organization’s entitlement, the correct Adobe organization, and your Admin Console assignment.
