There is no single best iPad stand for every musician or artist. The right choice depends on where the tablet must attach: a microphone stand, floor tripod, desk, keyboard rig, drum rack, or camera tripod. For most performers who already own a stand, the IK Multimedia iKlip 3 Deluxe is the most flexible holder. The König & Meyer (K&M) 19790 is the more traditional microphone-stand mount, while the K&M 19793 is the clearest complete floor-stand choice.

Best complete floor stand: K&M 19793

It fits home practice, studio production, online teaching, and livestreaming. Measure desk depth and leave room for charging and audio cables; tapping can move a lightweight tabletop stand.

Best lower-cost floor candidate: Hercules DG307B-FS1
The DG307B-FS1 is Hercules’ dedicated tablet-and-smartphone floor stand, also listed at $65.99 at the same snapshot. It is worth comparing with the K&M 19793 when price matters, but Hercules publishes less tablet-dimension detail on the product page. Confirm the holder’s height, width, and depth limits—especially with a rugged or keyboard case—before buying.
Best tube or keyboard-stand clamp: K&M 19791
The 19791 clamps to tubes up to 1.181 inches (30 mm) or can use a 3/8-inch threaded connection. It suits keyboard stands, drum racks, music-stand shafts, and custom studio hardware. A clamp does not make every rack safe: check clearance from cymbals, moving hardware, pedals, and cables, and keep the extension short to reduce vibration and leverage.

How to choose an iPad stand for live music
- Choose the mounting situation. Use a holder if you already own a microphone stand, tripod, keyboard stand, or tube. Buy a complete floor stand when you need an independent setup.
- Measure the tablet with its case attached. Record overall height, width, and thickness. Include folio hinges, keyboard covers, rugged corners, and Apple Pencil accessories. A “13-inch iPad” label is not a dimensional guarantee.
- Match the connector standard. A 5/8-inch microphone thread, 3/8-inch thread, UNC 1/4-20 tripod thread, and tube clamp are different systems. Measure a pole before choosing a clamp and confirm included adapters.
- Plan the sightline. Singers need eye-level access without blocking the microphone; guitarists often need an offset position; keyboardists need controls and pedals clear; conductors need portrait pages at a readable height.
- Assess stability realistically. Separate tablet retention, joint stiffness, and base stability. Published fit ranges do not prove resistance to stage vibration or tipping. Keep a boom-mounted tablet close to the stand’s central axis and avoid fully extending lightweight stands.
- Check interaction and charging. Make sure USB-C, buttons, headphone adapters, and Pencil charging remain reachable. For live charts, a Bluetooth page-turning pedal can reduce tapping-induced movement.
