Slazzer makes it easy to remove an image background: upload a JPG, JPEG, or PNG, review the cutout, then download it or add a different background. It offers unlimited low-resolution previews and two free high-resolution credits after signup. That makes it free to try—not an unlimited source of full-resolution downloads. Paid processing uses credits, and commercial work has additional terms to check.
What Slazzer does
Slazzer is an AI-powered background remover. It identifies a prominent subject—such as a person, product, car, or animal—and separates it from the surrounding background. You can use the resulting cutout as a transparent image or place it over a replacement background. It is a focused cutout service, not a general-purpose photo editor for detailed retouching or compositing. See Slazzer’s description of the service.
How to remove a background with Slazzer
- Open the Slazzer online tool.
- Upload or drag in a JPG, JPEG, or PNG image.
- Wait for Slazzer to detect the foreground and produce a preview.
- Inspect the edges, especially around hair, fingers, handles, wheels, and other fine details. If the editor offers the background choices you need, try a transparent, solid-color, or replacement-image background.
- Download the result. The low-resolution website preview is free; a full-resolution download normally uses a credit.
The output is intended for a transparent PNG workflow or for placing the isolated subject over another background. Slazzer’s usage guide describes its available workflows. Editor controls can change, so do not assume that a specific manual repair brush or menu will be available.

Yes, for previews and limited experimentation. No, if by “free” you mean unlimited full-resolution exports. Slazzer’s pricing page currently describes the following allowances and limits:

In other words, you can inspect many images without paying, but a small preview is not the same as a full-size file suitable for a product listing, print, or a large graphic. Credits can be used across Slazzer products and integrations.
Prices and credit expiry
Slazzer’s pricing page showed these examples on August 16, 2026: monthly subscriptions of $11 for 100 credits, $36 for 300, $94 for 1,000, $155 for 1,800, $344 for 5,000, $518 for 10,000, $862 for 20,000, and $1,725 for 50,000. Top-up examples ranged from $6 for 10 credits to $1,296 for 12,000 credits. Prices and plan details can change; check the live pricing page before buying.
Slazzer says subscription credits can roll over up to six times the monthly allocation, while top-up credits expire after two years. See its subscription benefits for the rollover terms. If your need is occasional, start with the free previews and signup credits; if you need recurring full-resolution exports, estimate your monthly image count before choosing a plan.

Supported files and input limits
The stated supported formats are JPG, JPEG, and PNG. Slazzer lists a normal input limit of 12 MB and 25 megapixels. Images over 25 megapixels are automatically resized to the supported maximum, so do not assume the service will preserve an oversized original at its full pixel dimensions. These limits are listed in the pricing FAQ.
How good are the cutouts?
Slazzer markets its service for product photos, people, cars, hair, fuzzy edges, transparent objects, and uneven backgrounds. Those are the company’s claims, not independent comparative test results. The result still depends on the image: a clear subject against a contrasting background is generally easier for an automatic segmentation tool to isolate than a blurred subject blending into similar colors.

- Hair against a similarly colored or busy background.
- Glass, smoke, veils, lace, and translucent plastic.
- Thin wires, branches, straps, product handles, and other narrow shapes.
- Shadows, reflections, and overlapping subjects.
- Subjects touching the image edge, or images that are blurry, dark, or low-resolution.
A thumbnail can hide halos or missing details. Preview the cutout against both a light and a dark background to make stray pixels and rough edges easier to spot. If the result is poor, try a sharper original, clearer separation between subject and background, or a different image. For precise repair, use a manual masking tool in an editor such as Photoshop, Photopea, or GIMP; Slazzer should not be treated as a substitute for detailed masking work.
Website, desktop, Photoshop, and API workflows
The browser is simplest for one-off images. Slazzer also offers several ways to fit background removal into repeated work, but installing a tool does not make processing free.
- Desktop: Slazzer provides software for Windows, macOS, and Linux and describes it as useful for processing multiple images. The app is free to download, but image processing consumes credits. See the desktop app cost information.
- Photoshop: The plugin supports Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and later on Mac and Windows. It uses Slazzer’s API, needs an active API key and an internet connection, and consumes credits. It is an integration, not an offline Photoshop feature. Details are on the Photoshop plugin page.
- API: Developers can use the REST API to add background removal to a website, app, or automated workflow. Slazzer’s pricing page lists processing of up to 500 images per minute, with higher limits available on request. Assess rate limits, image dimensions, latency, monthly volume, data handling, and whether you need on-premises deployment before relying on it in production. Start with the API overview.
Slazzer also lists integrations and tools including Figma, Sketch, mobile apps, WooCommerce-related tools, and Zapier connectivity on its tools and API page. Availability and processing requirements may vary by integration; check the relevant product details.

Commercial use and privacy
Business users should not assume that free signup credits are cleared for unrestricted commercial production. Slazzer’s pricing page says commercial use requires a top-up purchase or a monthly subscription of at least 300 credits, while its general terms describe free accounts as intended for personal, non-commercial use. Read the current pricing and terms together before using outputs in client work, listings, or other business materials.
Slazzer’s photography page says uploaded images are not persistently stored and promotes an on-premises option for organizations with stricter confidentiality needs. These are company statements, not independent audit findings. If images are sensitive, review Slazzer’s current privacy documentation and ask about retention, processing, and deployment arrangements before uploading them. If your policy does not allow cloud processing, consider a local tool instead.
When Slazzer is a good fit—and when it is not
Slazzer is worth trying when you need a quick browser cutout, want to preview images before spending credits, have only a few high-resolution exports, or need a credit-based workflow through desktop software, Photoshop, or an API. It is less suitable if you expect unlimited free HD downloads, need extensive manual edge refinement, require offline processing, or frequently work with difficult translucent subjects.

For large catalogs or business-critical imagery, test a representative batch first. Check edge quality, shadows, output dimensions, processing limits, and total credit use rather than judging from one easy portrait. If a precise mask is essential, include time for manual correction in your workflow.
Alternatives by workflow
- Remove.bg: Consider it if you want another dedicated background-removal service with web, desktop, plugin, and API workflows. Compare current free-resolution limits, correction features, batch options, API limits, and commercial terms on its official site; prices are not stated here because they can change.
- Photoroom: A stronger category to investigate if background removal is only one part of product-photo work and you also want catalog-oriented composition, resizing, templates, or shadows. Its API page advertises 10 free Remove Background API calls for new accounts; check current terms at Photoroom’s API page.
- Canva: More appropriate when the cutout is going straight into a social post, presentation, flyer, or other designed layout. Check current plan requirements for the features you need.
- Adobe Express or Photoshop: Consider Adobe tools if you need broader design, compositing, or retouching controls or already work in that ecosystem. Slazzer’s Photoshop plugin may fit a specialized cutout step, but still relies on credits and an internet connection.
- Local or open-source tools: These may suit privacy-sensitive workflows that must stay on your own computer, but can require installation, model downloads, suitable hardware, and more hands-on work.
The right comparison depends on whether you need a transparent cutout, a complete product-image workflow, a design canvas, or local processing—not simply which tool advertises the largest number of features.
