Verdict: The ComMarker Omni X is a premium, enclosed 355 nm UV engraver aimed at detailed marking on glass, crystal, plastics, ceramics and metals. It is sold in 6W and 12W versions, with different work areas and expansion options. ComMarker’s specifications suggest a flexible machine for makers and small businesses, but the available evidence does not include an independent, methodologically described hands-on test of this exact model. Treat its speed, accuracy, material range and certification statements as manufacturer claims, and validate your own materials and settings before committing production work.
What the ComMarker Omni X is
The Omni X uses a 355 nm ultraviolet laser and supports 3D internal engraving, according to ComMarker. UV processing is commonly chosen when a maker needs fine, localized marks with less reliance on heat than many infrared or diode workflows. That does not make every job cold, harmless or automatically suitable: the result depends on the material formulation, coatings, additives, focus, pulse settings and ventilation.
ComMarker lists the machine as an enclosed unit weighing 32 kg, with an outer build volume of 515 × 320 × 655 mm. Input options are listed as 100–130 V or 220–230 V. Confirm the exact regional electrical configuration and current product revision before ordering.

6W versus 12W: the practical differences
The official store offers two power configurations. ComMarker describes the 6W model as suited to detailed engraving and the 12W model as suitable for engraving and cutting; those are manufacturer recommendations, not independent comparative results.
| Configuration | Base working area | Listed slide-extension size | Manufacturer positioning |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6W | 150 × 150 mm | 150 × 400 mm | Detailed engraving |
| 12W | 250 × 250 mm | 250 × 400 mm | Engraving and cutting |
The 12W version therefore provides both more nominal power and a larger base field. Choose it when larger pieces, deeper marks or occasional cutting are central to the workflow. The 6W model is the more focused choice when work consists mainly of small, fine engravings and the smaller field is sufficient. Neither table entry establishes actual cut depth, throughput or edge quality; those figures were not independently measured here.
Materials: broad support, not a universal process guarantee
ComMarker’s supported-material list includes paper, wood, leather, MDF, acrylic, bamboo, fabric, glass, crystal, ceramic, stone and several metals, among other categories. This is a claimed compatibility range, not proof that every formulation, color, coating or finished product will mark equally well.

How to qualify a new material
- Identify the exact substrate, surface coating, adhesive, pigment and additive content. “Acrylic,” “painted metal” or “plastic” is not a sufficiently precise safety description.
- Read the Omni X manual and the material’s safety data information. The manual search excerpt states: “Do not engrave materials with unknown properties.”
- Run a controlled test on scrap, starting with conservative settings and checking the mark, heat damage, discoloration and residue.
- Provide appropriate ventilation and capture for the actual material. A supported-material label does not establish that its fumes are harmless or that one extraction setup suits every job.
Do not process an unidentified blank merely because it resembles a listed category. PVC, vinyl and unknown laminates can present serious fume hazards, and this evidence does not provide a complete material-by-material ventilation protocol.
Work area, rotary work and production fit
The base field is 150 × 150 mm on the 6W configuration and 250 × 250 mm on the 12W. The listed slide extensions increase usable length to 400 mm while retaining the corresponding width: 150 × 400 mm for 6W or 250 × 400 mm for 12W. Check the actual clearance and workpiece height required by your fixtures; a nominal field does not describe every object that can physically fit inside the enclosure.
ComMarker lists an R5 Multi-Functional Rotary and a Slide Extension as bundle options. A rotary can matter for cylindrical gifts, bottles and similar work, while a slide is relevant to elongated flat pieces. Decide based on the objects you will actually mark rather than buying every accessory by default.

- Which application controls the exact Omni X configuration you are buying?
- Is the LightBurn feature set you need supported on your operating system and license?
- Does your preferred workflow require USB, Wi‑Fi or a particular mobile device?
- Can your design software output the file formats and rotary operations your jobs require?
Ask ComMarker or the reseller to confirm current software versions, supported operating systems and any licensing requirements in writing. Software compatibility can be more consequential than a modest power difference when the machine is part of a repeatable production workflow.
Enclosure and safety claims
ComMarker lists Class 1 laser safety, an OD 5+ light-proof rating, temperature detection, a door sensor and an included safety key. Its product page states: “Omni X meets Class-1 Safety laser safety certification, as well as FDA, and CE certification.” That is a manufacturer statement; certification records were not independently checked for this review. The product page also describes an emergency stop.

The manual excerpt advises a dry, ventilated workspace and an operating range of 10°C to 28°C with humidity at or below 70%. Keep the enclosure closed during operation, use the door interlock and safety key as intended, and do not bypass protective systems. An enclosed Class 1 design reduces exposure risk during normal operation, but it does not remove the need to control smoke, vapour and contaminated residue.
Extraction is a separate decision
ComMarker’s Ultimate Bundle listing includes a 100W fume extractor. The listing identifies a purchase option, not proof that the extractor is suitable for every material, room or local code. Match extraction to the substances you will process, the room’s make-up air and your workplace requirements. If you process coated, painted or plastic parts, obtain material-specific safety information rather than relying on the bundle name.

Who should consider the Omni X?
A strong fit
- A maker or small business whose products require fine marks on glass, crystal, ceramics, plastics or metals.
- A workspace that benefits from an enclosed machine and a documented, repeatable material-testing process.
- Work involving small to medium parts where the 150 or 250 mm base field, or the corresponding slide extension, is adequate.
- A buyer prepared to verify software, electrical supply, extraction and after-sales terms before purchase.
Look elsewhere or delay the purchase when
- You need verified production-rate, repeatability or long-term reliability data for a particular material.
- Your work primarily involves large panels that exceed the available fields.
- You cannot provide dry, ventilated space within the stated environmental range.
- You expect the supported-material list to substitute for hazard assessment and scrap testing.
- Your budget cannot absorb premium-machine and accessory costs.
How to compare it with another engraver
There is not enough independent evidence here to rank the Omni X against competing UV, diode, CO₂ or dual-laser machines. Compare candidates on the same operational criteria:
- Material and job type: Identify the exact substrates, mark contrast, depth and any cutting requirement.
- Usable area and height: Compare the real fixture envelope, not just the headline field.
- Software: Check operating-system support, rotary functions, file handling and licensing.
- Safety and extraction: Verify enclosure design, interlocks, emergency controls and a material-appropriate fume plan.
- Installation: Check footprint, 32 kg machine weight, local voltage and environmental limits.
- Included accessories: Price a rotary, slide, extractor and required fixtures separately.
- Support: Get warranty coverage, service location, replacement-part availability and response terms in writing.
- Total current price: Compare the exact regional bundle, shipping, taxes and recurring consumables on the same date.
What this review can and cannot establish
The documented evidence supports the Omni X’s wavelength, power choices, listed work areas, software names, safety features, dimensions, weight, environmental guidance and store pricing observed on September 30, 2026. It does not establish independent engraving speed, accuracy, cut quality, repeatability, reliability, long-term support outcomes or third-party certification records. Those unanswered questions should shape your buying decision, especially if the machine will be used for paid production.
