Robbie Jones, working under the name Tiny Ass Props, creates highly detailed miniature watch replicas for action figures and collectors. His models are generally under 5 millimetres in diameter. They are display props—not functioning timepieces—and combine digital modelling, resin printing and meticulous hand finishing.

Who makes the tiniest watch models?
The artist is Robbie Jones, founder of Tiny Ass Props. His background spans theatre, scenography and stage-prop making. He has also worked as an Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Nebraska and has sculpted since childhood.
Jones describes the work plainly: “It sounds pretentious, but I’m an artist.” His goal is not to manufacture a smaller working movement, but to reproduce the visual identity of a watch at a scale suitable for figures and displays.
How small are the watches?
Time+Tide Watches reported in 2022 that Jones’s miniature watch models are less than half the size of a thumbnail and generally under 5 mm across. At that size, ordinary watch details disappear unless they are redesigned for the limitations of miniature production.
Why did he start making them?
The first miniature watch in the reported story came from a commission for a Breaking Bad figure. The buyer wanted Walter White’s TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12, and Jones built the tiny prop because detailed figures did not always have an appropriately scaled, character-specific watch.

That gap became the basis for Tiny Ass Props. Collectors could find highly finished action figures, but not always the small wrist accessories that complete a character’s appearance. Requests then expanded beyond Walter White.

How are the miniature watches made?
Digital modelling comes first
Jones begins by constructing a digital 3D model. A new model can take at least five days, according to his 2022 interview with Time+Tide Watches. This stage establishes the case, bezel, dial, hands, bracelet or strap and the negative spaces that make a recognisable watch read correctly at tiny scale.
Details are adjusted for miniature printing
Some features must be enlarged or otherwise modified so that gaps remain visible after printing. A literal reduction of a full-size design would leave many openings too small to reproduce cleanly, causing details to merge into a solid shape.
Resin printing creates the part
The models are produced with 3D resins. Resin allows the fine surface geometry needed for cases, dials and bracelets, while also making it practical to produce variations for different characters and references.

Hand finishing provides the final definition
Wrist Enthusiast reports that Jones finishes each piece by hand with tiny silicone polishing bits. At this scale, polishing is not merely cosmetic: it helps separate surfaces, refine edges and give the miniature the reflective and matte contrasts that make a watch legible.
The hardest designs contain multiple layers
Jones identified the fully skeletonised Breguet linked to Batman v Superman as particularly difficult. Its internal layers had to be stacked inside the case, leaving the openworked construction visible without losing the alignment of the tiny components.
Are Tiny Ass Props watches functional?
No evidence in the cited profiles describes a working movement. These are aesthetic replicas and props intended for figures, photography and collector displays. Their value is visual fidelity at miniature scale, not timekeeping.
Can you put one on a 1:6 action figure?
Tiny Ass Props models are aimed at the action-figure and collector market, and scale compatibility is a central consideration when commissioning one. A buyer should provide the figure scale, wrist dimensions and a reference image of the desired watch. A model made for one character or scale should not be assumed to fit another without adjustment.

Time+Tide reported in 2022 that Jones could not accept new commissions for the following two years. That was a historical snapshot, not a current availability statement. Anyone interested should check Tiny Ass Props directly for present commission status rather than relying on that old backlog.
