Ferrari’s first fully electric production car is called the Luce, and Jony Ive’s LoveFrom collective is responsible for its exterior, interior and interaction design. Ferrari revealed the cabin and interface in San Francisco on 9 February 2026, then showed the complete four-door, five-seat grand tourer in Rome on 25 May 2026.
What is Ferrari’s first electric car called?
The car is the Ferrari Luce. It is not a two-seat electric supercar, but a four-door, five-seat gran turismo with a lounge-like cabin. That format gives Ferrari a substantially different interior-design brief: the car must accommodate passengers and longer journeys while retaining the brand’s emphasis on driver involvement and mechanical drama.
LoveFrom’s Ferrari project archive describes the assignment as “A new electric Ferrari, considered from the bodywork to the smallest point of contact.” The multi-year partnership with Ferrari began with Exor’s announcement in September 2021.

Yes—with an important qualification. Ive, Marc Newson and the LoveFrom collective led the Luce’s exterior, interior and interaction design. Ferrari remains responsible for the vehicle’s engineering, development and production; the collaboration should not be read as Ive independently engineering the car.

- 1/24 scale diecast car with metal body and plastic parts, opening engine compartment and full function steering by Bburago.
- Full function steering
LoveFrom’s own description of the cabin is precise: “The Luce cockpit: a continuous dashboard with distinct physical controls.” That wording captures the central idea more accurately than calling the Luce simply a screen-heavy electric Ferrari.
What does the Ferrari Luce interior look like?
A continuous dashboard built from individual controls
The dashboard runs visually across the cabin, but its controls are deliberately separated into distinct objects. Physical switches, rotary controls and machined metal sit beside multifunctional digital displays. Buttons and toggles are intended to have their own visual identity and tactile response rather than disappearing into a single touchscreen surface.

Physical interaction beside digital displays
The Luce treats digital screens as one part of the interface, not the entire interface. The design places mechanical controls next to the displays so key actions can be located by feel as well as by sight. That approach contrasts with the screen-first interiors now common in luxury EVs, where climate, media and vehicle settings may be grouped behind menus.

Steering wheel materials
The three-spoke steering wheel uses recycled aluminium. In the context of the wider cockpit, that material choice reinforces the use of exposed, carefully machined components rather than treating every surface as a generic digital appliance.

Ferrari Luce performance and battery targets
The following figures are reported expectations from IAA MOBILITY in 2026, not confirmed final production specifications.
| Item | Reported expectation | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Drive system | Four electric motors, one at each wheel | Reported by IAA MOBILITY in 2026 |
| Electrical architecture | New 800-volt EV platform | Reported by IAA MOBILITY in 2026 |
| Combined output | More than 1,000 hp | Reported by IAA MOBILITY in 2026 |
| 0–100 km/h | About 2.5 seconds | Expected target |
| Top speed | Above 310 km/h (193 mph) | Expected target |
| Battery | Around 122 kWh | Reported expectation |
| Range | Approximately 530 km (330 miles) | Reported expectation; test cycle and final certification not stated |
The four-motor layout gives Ferrari an electric motor at each wheel, while the 800-volt architecture is intended for high-power EV operation. Until Ferrari publishes final homologated data, the battery, range and acceleration figures should be treated as targets rather than guarantees for every market or driving condition.

When will the Ferrari Luce be delivered?
IAA MOBILITY reported first deliveries planned for 2027. That is a forward-looking schedule and can change as Ferrari completes validation, regulatory approval and production preparation. A confirmed customer-delivery timetable by country has not been stated.
How much will Ferrari’s first EV cost?
The expected starting price reported by IAA MOBILITY is approximately €550,000, or more than US$600,000 at the cited conversion. This is a pre-production expectation, not a final market price; taxes, options, local pricing and exchange rates could materially alter what customers pay.

Why the Luce interior matters
A different answer to the luxury-EV interface problem
Many electric luxury cars make a large central display the dominant control surface. The Luce instead makes physical controls part of the visual architecture. That choice could appeal to drivers who want a rotary control or switch they can operate without navigating menus, while still providing configurable digital functions through the screens.
Grand-tourer practicality, Ferrari performance
Its four-door, five-seat packaging places the Luce closer to a high-performance grand tourer than to Ferrari’s traditional two-seat mid-engine sports cars. The lounge-like concept therefore serves a practical purpose: it broadens the car’s use beyond a driver and one passenger without abandoning Ferrari’s performance ambitions.
LoveFrom’s role versus Ferrari’s role
The project is a design collaboration, not a transfer of Ferrari’s engineering identity. LoveFrom shaped how the car looks and how occupants interact with it; Ferrari must turn that concept into a safe, manufacturable electric vehicle and support it in production.
