Make a paper calendar with one month on each of a dodecahedron’s 12 pentagonal faces. The simplest route is a dated radial net: print the right year’s template, cut its solid outline, score and fold the marked lines, then glue the tabs. Choose a template made for your calendar year; a dated PDF is not a reusable perpetual calendar.
Choose a template that fits your project
A regular dodecahedron has 12 pentagonal faces, so it gives each month a face of its own. The templates below differ in page size, geometry, and assembly style; check the year and language on the actual file before printing.

For a calendar you can assemble without joining separate panels, Aunt Annie’s radial net is the most direct option. Its index includes 2026 and 2027, so choose the file for the year you want rather than assuming one pattern stays current.

Gather materials and set up the print
For Aunt Annie’s radial pattern, use paper or cardstock, scissors, glue or double-sided tape, and a ruler. Cardstock makes a sturdier finished calendar. To transfer the pattern, print it on ordinary paper and trace it onto heavier card. The guide recommends a bone folder or an empty ballpoint pen with a ruler for scoring cardstock.
- Check that the downloaded file shows the intended year and language.
- Use the page size specified for that template. Aunt Annie’s guide targets standard Letter/A4 paper; the 13 × 19-inch size applies only to The Problem Site’s blank net.
- If printing Aunt Annie’s PDF, its page notes mention settings such as “Auto-Rotate and Center” or “Choose paper source by PDF page size.” Confirm the net fits the sheet before cutting.
Cut, score, fold, and glue the radial net
- Print the selected dated net. Keep the page at the template’s intended size and orientation so the tabs and faces remain aligned.
- Cut the outside outline. Follow the solid boundary around the complete net, keeping the tabs attached.
- Score the fold lines. With a ruler as a guide, lightly run a bone folder or empty ballpoint pen over the marked lines. Scoring cardstock before folding helps the edges crease cleanly.
- Fold the panels and tabs. Fold along the indicated lines, keeping the calendar faces oriented as shown on the template.
- Build around the center pentagon. For Aunt Annie’s radial layout, bring the first surrounding panels into a ring around the center face, then attach the next ring using the tabs.
- Close the final face. Apply glue or tape to the remaining tabs and bring the last pentagon over them. Work patiently so the edges meet without forcing the shape out of alignment.
For the 2026 RSM PDF, the printed instructions say to cut solid lines, fold dashed lines, and glue using the blank tabs. Follow the line key on the specific file you print: conventions can vary between templates.

When another construction style makes more sense
Separate pentagon panels
Aunt Annie’s separate-panel approach builds five pentagons around a sixth to form each half, then joins the top and bottom halves. It involves more individual pieces than the radial net, but lets you work on the faces separately before assembly.
Cut-and-glue or origami designs
The Origami Resource Center lists a 2026 cut-and-glue calendar described as requiring little folding, alongside a rhombic dodecahedron calendar with a different geometry. Check the exact file and its use terms; the listed rhombic model is for personal use, and non-private commercial use requires creator permission.

Hamiltonian month order
The University of Kentucky-hosted 2026 English calendar uses a Hamiltonian cycle to arrange the months around the solid, with January returning to its starting orientation. Choose it if that specific sequence is part of the appeal, rather than assuming it uses the same face order as another calendar net.
Blank, large-format net
The Problem Site’s blank net was designed for 13 × 19-inch photo paper and can be scaled. That large sheet size is specific to this template, not a general requirement for making a dodecahedron calendar.
