The Christmastide Wreath Pillow finishes at 16½ inches square and uses a 16-inch square pillow form. Its wreath is pieced around a central Snowball unit, while a gathered fabric bow and two-color binding add the finishing details. The instructions below follow the project published by AllPeopleQuilt on April 14, 2026.
Finished size and pillow form
The finished pillow measures 16½ inches square; the pieced block finishes at 14 inches square. The pattern specifies a 16-inch square pillow form, inserted through the opening in the back. The cover and insert sizes are different because the cover is intended to fit around the form.
Materials
The pattern’s quantities assume fabric with 42 inches of usable width.

How the wreath front is pieced
- Mark diagonal lines on the selected squares. Sew on both sides of each marked line, then cut along the line to make triangle-square units.
- Use the green and green-and-white pieces to make the side units. Sew small marked squares to the corners of a white square to form the central Snowball unit.
- Arrange the units in three rows and join the rows to make the block. At this stage, the block should measure 14½ inches square including seam allowances.
- Add the white borders to complete the pillow top.
Make the bow and overlapping back
Fabric bow
Fold and stitch the red fabric rectangle as directed in the pattern, gather it at the center, and wrap a narrow fabric band around the gathering. The bow is a separate piece, attached beneath the wreath opening during finishing.
Two-piece pillow back
Make the back from two red rectangles. Double-fold and stitch the hems, then overlap the pieces by four inches to form the square backing and its insert opening.

Quilt and finish the pillow
- Layer the pillow top with the batting and muslin, then quilt as desired. For the sample, maker Doris Brunnette used holly-leaf quilting in the green sections and a diagonal grid on the white background.
- Hand-stitch the bow beneath the wreath opening.
- Join the quilted front and the back, then finish the edges with the pieced red-and-green binding. Place the green side toward the back; on the front, stitch in the seam between the two colors to create the faux-piping effect.
- Miter the corners as directed, insert the 16-inch pillow form through the back opening, and arrange the cover.
