The Six-Pointed Stars Table Runner is a small quilted project finished at 13 × 22¾ inches. Its top combines 14 six-pointed-star units with light-blue setting pieces, rows and borders. The 2013 AllPeopleQuilt pattern supports either hand-piecing or slow, careful machine-piecing.
Project details and materials
AllPeopleQuilt published the project on June 14, 2013, crediting the American Patchwork & Quilting Editors. It was inspired by Honeycomb Stars by Cindy Blackberg, and Laura Boehnke is credited as quiltmaker. The finished runner measures 13 × 22¾ inches.

The pictured bright fabrics are identified as Laurel Burch Basics for Clothworks. You can choose comparable quilting cotton prints; current Clothworks listings do not establish that the exact prints shown in the 2013 project remain available. Clothworks sells wholesale and directs consumers to fabric shops or online retailers (Clothworks FAQ; Laurel Burch Basics Precuts).

Choose hand-piecing or machine-piecing
The many set-in seams make hand-piecing a suggested approach, but the pattern also allows machine-piecing. Neither method is presented as universally better; choose based on your comfort with set-in seams, careful alignment and sewing at a controlled pace.

| Hand-piecing | Useful if you prefer sewing the set-in seams by hand or want a portable project. The instructions recommend thin sharps or betweens, extra-fine pins, stitches about ⅛ inch long (or eight stitches per inch), and 12-inch thread lengths. |
| Machine-piecing | A viable option when you sew slowly and start and stop at the marked matching points. Take care not to stretch bias edges as you align the pieces. |
Assemble the runner
- Piece the star units and top. Join the pieces with attention to the marked matching points, especially at set-in seams. Keep bias edges from stretching.
- Join the setting pieces and rows. Assemble the star units with the light-blue pieces and rows according to the pattern, then add the borders.
- Trim and press the quilt center. Use a rotary cutter and ruler for trimming. Press the completed units, rows and center so the seams lie flat.
- Finish the quilt. Layer the top with batting and backing, baste, quilt as desired, and bind with the stripe fabric.
