In Singapore’s official 2025 holiday schedule, Hari Raya Puasa falls on Monday, 31 March. A Malaysian government schedule for Sarawak also lists Hari Raya Puasa / Aidil Fitri on 31 March, with an additional public holiday listed for 1 April. Because “Hari Raya 2025” does not specify a country or observance, those dates should be read in their stated jurisdictions—not as a single date confirmed for every community.
When is Hari Raya in 2025?
| Jurisdiction and source | Holiday label | 2025 date listed |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore, Ministry of Manpower (official public-holiday schedule) | Hari Raya Puasa | Monday, 31 March |
| Sarawak, Malaysia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (state holiday schedule) | Hari Raya Puasa / Aidil Fitri | 31 March; the schedule also lists a public holiday on 1 April |
These official schedules establish the dates for Singapore and the cited Sarawak schedule. They are not a complete calendar for every country or Malaysian state, so check the relevant local government calendar if you need a date for another jurisdiction.
What does Hari Raya refer to?
In this context, Hari Raya commonly refers to the celebration marking the end of Ramadan, also called Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Malaysian usage. The exact label varies: Singapore’s schedule uses “Hari Raya Puasa,” while the Sarawak schedule says “Hari Raya Puasa / Aidil Fitri.” Tourism Malaysia uses “Hari Raya Aidilfitri” in its coverage. The names help explain what readers may see in different sources, but do not mean every place follows an identical calendar.
How is Hari Raya observed in Malaysia?
Practices vary by household and community. A Sabah State Library overview describes Malaysian examples that include Aidilfitri prayer, visits with family, festive clothing, shared food, home decorations, open houses and duit raya. These are cultural examples, not a list of required customs.

Prayer and visiting relatives are among the practices described in the library’s overview. Traditional clothing examples include baju Melayu, baju kurung and baju kebaya. The Sabah State Library overview places these customs in a Malaysian setting.
Food, open houses and duit raya
Ketupat, rendang, lemang and kuih appear among the foods associated with Malaysian celebrations in the same overview. Tourism Malaysia’s 1 April 2025 coverage describes sharing festive delicacies with visitors and calls filling and boiling ketupat a cherished tradition. At a 2025 Sarawak state open house, dishes served included rendang, ketupat, satay and mee jawa.
