There is no single new U.S. national logo established for 2025 in the official sources cited here. The phrase “United States Logo 2025” may refer to America250’s commemorative identity, the historic Great Seal, an individual federal agency’s branding, or the banner identifying an official government website. These marks have different purposes and usage rules.
What does “United States Logo 2025” refer to?
It is not the name of one confirmed nationwide logo. The closest relevant 2025 identity is America250, created for the United States’ semiquincentennial commemoration. Separately, America by Design is a government design initiative, not a national-logo announcement.
America by Design is a design initiative
The America by Design site, dated August 21, 2025, describes a National Design Studio effort to improve interfaces and services people use to interact with government. It discusses design precedents such as NASA’s logo, National Parks branding, and highway signage, but does not announce a general U.S. logo. America by Design
America250 is a commemorative identity
The America250 visual identity guide, version 3 dated April 23, 2025, describes a flowing red, white, and blue ribbon forming “250” in one continuous path, alongside “America” in serif lettering. It is a mark for the semiquincentennial, not a universal logo for the federal government. America250 Visual Identity Guidelines

How the main U.S. government marks differ
| Mark | Who or what it identifies | Scope and date |
|---|---|---|
| America250 identity | The semiquincentennial commemoration | Commemorative identity; guide version 3 dated April 23, 2025 |
| Great Seal of the United States | A national symbol used on official documents | Final design approved in 1782; not a new 2025 logo |
| Federal agency identity | A particular department or bureau | Agency-specific. For example, the State Department’s central Brand System is described in 10 FAM 410, revised June 27, 2025; Census publishes its own identity standards. |
| Federal website banner | An official public-facing federal website | A web component using a U.S. flag image, official-site language, domain information, and an HTTPS explanation; not a standalone government seal or logo. |
The Great Seal is a historic national symbol
USAGov describes the Great Seal as a national symbol used on official documents, with a final design approved in 1782. Its elements include a bald eagle, olive branch, arrows, a shield, “E Pluribus Unum,” and stars. A flag or the Great Seal may be what someone means by a U.S. national symbol, but neither should be described as a newly introduced 2025 logo. Federal agencies have separate identity systems
Federal departments and bureaus may set their own visual identity standards. The State Department’s 10 FAM 410 describes its Department Brand System as the central repository and policy framework for its visual identity. The Census Bureau also has separate corporate identity standards. Neither agency’s mark represents every part of the federal government. Can you use a U.S. government logo?
Do not assume that an image is free to reuse just because it appears on a federal website. USAGov warns that federal sites may contain third-party material and says federal agency logos and trademarks cannot be used without permission. Use must not imply that a federal agency endorses a product, service, or outside organization. Check with the agency or program responsible for the specific mark, and follow any asset-specific attribution or license terms. USAGov guidance on federal government material and copyright
America250 artwork has its own instructions: use original approved artwork rather than altering or redrawing the mark, and obtain America250 review and approval for co-branding. The guide’s mention of promotional items does not by itself establish general commercial merchandise rights.
