L’ora dorata è la luce calda e radente intorno all’alba e al tramonto; l’ora blu è la luce crepuscolare più fredda prima dell’alba o dopo il tramonto. Non durano necessariamente un’ora: per conoscere gli orari esatti servono la località e la data dello scatto.
Che cosa sono l’ora dorata e l’ora blu?
Sono espressioni usate in fotografia per descrivere condizioni di luce, non fasce orarie universali. Secondo la guida Fujifilm, l’ora dorata si verifica poco dopo l’alba o poco prima del tramonto, quando il Sole è basso e la luce tende a essere calda e direzionale. L’ora blu si colloca poco prima dell’alba o poco dopo il tramonto, quando il Sole è appena sotto l’orizzonte e prevale una luce ambientale più fredda.
La parola “ora” non garantisce una durata di sessanta minuti. Le finestre cambiano con la stagione e la latitudine, e il momento in cui la luce appare blu può dipendere anche dalla direzione in cui si guarda, come spiega la guida di PhotoPills.

Come trovare gli orari per una fotografia
Per pianificare uno scatto, inserisci la località e la data in un calcolatore solare o in un’app di pianificazione fotografica. Senza questi due dati non è possibile indicare un orario preciso: alba, tramonto e durata delle finestre di luce variano da luogo a luogo e nel corso dell’anno.
Un’app può applicare una propria convenzione ai termini. Per esempio, il manuale di PlanIt! definisce, all’interno dell’app, l’ora dorata con il Sole tra 0° e 6° e l’ora blu tra −4° e −8°. Sono parametri di quel programma, non definizioni universali.

Gli orari calcolati sono stime: l’U.S. Naval Observatory avverte che atmosfera, topografia locale e altezza dell’osservatore possono influire sui momenti di alba e tramonto osservati. Rilievi o un orizzonte non libero possono quindi far apparire il Sole in momenti diversi rispetto a quelli previsti per un orizzonte standard.
Il crepuscolo astronomico non è la stessa cosa dell’ora blu
In astronomia, il crepuscolo civile, nautico e astronomico è definito in base all’altezza geometrica del centro del Sole sotto l’orizzonte: rispettivamente 6°, 12° e 18°. Le soglie sono riportate dall’U.S. Naval Observatory e dal National Weather Service. Sono definizioni astronomiche distinte dalle convenzioni fotografiche di ora dorata e ora blu.

- Per un paesaggio con poca luce, aumenta la sensibilità ISO oppure usa un treppiede. Quest’ultimo è particolarmente utile durante l’ora blu, quando l’esposizione può richiedere tempi più lunghi.
- Usa l’autoscatto o un comando remoto per ridurre il rischio di muovere la fotocamera quando premi il pulsante di scatto.
- Controlla il bilanciamento del bianco: se l’impostazione automatica rende troppo neutre le tonalità calde o blu, prova una regolazione diversa.
Questi accorgimenti sono indicati nei suggerimenti pratici di Fujifilm; il treppiede è un supporto facoltativo, non un requisito per ogni scatto.
