The Print Bar describes screen-printing a custom T-shirt as a sequence: choose a garment and provide artwork, separate the design into colour-specific screens, press ink through each screen, then heat-cure the finished print. That is the company’s published overview—not a complete tour of its workshop or a guarantee of particular equipment or quality checks.
How does The Print Bar make a screen-printed T-shirt?
The Print Bar calls traditional screen printing “serigraphy” and explains it as applying ink through a stencil. The process it describes begins with artwork and ends with the ink cured on the garment.
1. Choose the garment and submit a design
Customers select a compatible product, garment colour, sizes, quantity and print sides. They can create artwork in the online design tool or upload a design, then check out to send the order into production. The company’s broader order flow follows the same pattern: select a product, create a design, choose the printing method and order details, then place the order. 2. Separate the artwork into colours
For screen printing, the company says the artwork is divided by colour and printed onto transparent film. Each colour is exposed onto its own mesh screen. The screens are rectangular frames covered in fine mesh and coated with light-sensitive emulsion; exposure forms a stencil that leaves openings where that colour’s ink should pass through.
3. Press ink through each screen
The screen is positioned over the print area, and ink is pressed through the mesh onto the garment. The operation is repeated for each additional colour, with a high-temperature flash between colour applications. The company also says a white underbase may be used on darker garments.

4. Cure and dry the print
Once the colours have been applied, The Print Bar says the garment passes through a heat tunnel to cure and dry the print. Its published description does not specify ink chemistry, machine models, exact temperatures or dwell times, or the staff sequence involved.
Screen printing or digital (DTG): which suits the design?
The Print Bar’s guidance is a practical starting point, not an independent comparison test. Its help centre describes digital printing, or DTG, as an inkjet-style process that applies specialty ink to a garment, with a white underbase beneath colour layers. For screen printing, each colour gets a stencil, and a white underbase may be used on darker garments. The company recommends choosing based on design, quantity and other job requirements.

What does screen-printing setup and turnaround cost?
On its service page, The Print Bar states a $50 setup charge per colour screen, averaged over the garment cost. The final quote depends on the garment, print locations, number of colours and quantity, so the figure is not a complete per-shirt price. The same page states a two-week screen-printing turnaround and attributes the longer timing to setup and a more rigorous colour-matching quality-assurance process. Both figures are vendor-published claims accessed on October 5, 2026; confirm the current charge and timing with the company before ordering.

The homepage also describes eligible same-day digital printing for an extra $10: orders must be placed before 11 a.m., with printing from 4:30 p.m. and pickup in Brisbane/Meanjin or Melbourne/Naarm, or shipment. This is a separate digital-printing offer, not the screen-printing turnaround. Eligibility and terms can change, so check the current homepage before relying on it.

The Print Bar advises washing the garment inside out on a cold, delicate cycle, then air drying it out of direct sunlight. It recommends avoiding tumble drying and not ironing directly over the print; if ironing is necessary, iron the reverse. The company does not provide controlled longevity data with this advice.
