Maker Faire Prague’s 2025 edition was scheduled for May 10–11 at the Křižík Pavilions in the Prague Exhibition Centre. In a feature published by Make: on May 9, 2025, Jennifer Blakeslee described the event as a meeting point for craft, technology, performance, and education—and said nearly 200 makers were expected, not that this was a confirmed attendance figure.
What the eighth edition marked
The feature describes Maker Faire Prague as beginning in 2018 and identifies the May 2025 gathering as its eighth edition. Rather than presenting making as a single discipline, it shows how hands-on craft, engineering, interactive installations, and public learning can share one event.
Blakeslee also reported a Friday gathering ahead of the public event, bringing together makerspace leaders, educators, makers, and government representatives to discuss the maker movement and creative and technical education in Czechia. The article’s project examples are highlights, not a complete program.
Projects that crossed craft, engineering, and performance
Music built from scrap
One Love Machine Band makes mechanical musicians from scrap metal, bringing reuse and performance together in an unusual form. Its presence illustrates how a maker project can be both an engineered object and a public-facing artistic experience.

A staircase with a personality
Martin Bilek’s Mr. Slinky is a moving installation incorporating gears and 3D-printed parts. Its project description captures the intent: “We wanted to build something that moved, entertained, and surprised a little.”
The feature says the creators were developing a Raspberry Pi touchscreen to act as a controller and information display. During a demonstration, it was intended to show the staircase’s speed and the number of steps completed, answering the recurring visitor question, “How many steps did it go?” The article does not identify a touchscreen model or present one as a tested recommendation.

Another example combined drones, interactive objects, and an actor in an experimental performance. Here, technology was part of a live encounter rather than simply a device on display.

An open-footwear project focused on adaptable, repairable shoes. Its emphasis on making extends beyond construction to how an object can be adjusted and maintained over time.
Building a wooden biplane
DOK16 hosted a wooden biplane activity, offering a hands-on route into making through a recognizable aircraft form and a shared build.
Underwater exploration
CPS DRONE brought underwater drones into the feature’s selection, adding robotics and exploration beneath the waterline to the event’s range of projects.

Why the mix matters
These examples show different ways people can encounter making: watching a mechanical band perform, asking questions of a moving installation, participating in a build, or seeing robotics used for exploration. The feature’s overall picture is not just of finished objects, but of making as a way to connect technical experimentation with creative expression and education.
