Sherwin-Williams held a September 30, 2026, opening ceremony for its expanded architectural paint and coatings manufacturing facility in Statesville, North Carolina. The company says the site is now its largest manufacturing plant in North America. The claim that Sherwin-Williams stock fell 1.23% is not verified by the available dated market information, and there is no evidence here that the plant expansion caused a share-price decline.
What changed at the Statesville plant?
Sherwin-Williams reported nearly 50,000 square feet of improvements, including expanded production space, automation enhancements, four new rail spurs, and related infrastructure. The company has operated in Statesville since 1993, according to its announcement.
#1 Best Overall
Chair, President and CEO Heidi Petz said the added space, rail infrastructure, and automation give the facility more flexibility and efficiency in manufacturing and moving products through the company’s global supply network. That is the company’s description of the expected operational benefit; the announcement does not provide independently measured output, efficiency, or delivery-time gains.
How the plant fits into Sherwin-Williams’ network
The company says the plant complements a nearby distribution service center that connects production, transportation, and distribution with its broader operations. Sherwin-Williams said it selected the Statesville site for its transportation infrastructure, workforce, and position within its manufacturing and distribution network.

What is known about the reported stock decline?
The specific 1.23% decline cannot be confirmed from the available information because it does not establish the trading date or provide a matching market-data source. The dated figures available refer to different periods and do not substantiate that claim:
| Measure | Reported figure | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Daily move | Down 0.33% | Yahoo Finance snapshot at the October 5, 2026 close; this is not the reported 1.23% move. |
| Trailing-year move | Down 6% | Zacks Equity Research, reported October 1, 2026; this is a preceding-year comparison, not a one-day change. |
These figures describe separate periods. Neither establishes a 1.23% daily decline, and neither shows that the Statesville announcement drove SHW shares lower. A claim about a particular day would require a verified trading date and matching market data.
