Painting and brush customization: Infinite Painter
Infinite Painter suits a painting-first workflow. Choose an app for your device and handoff needs
- Decide what you will create. Separate general sketching, natural-media painting, manga and line art, multi-page comics, diagrams, and animation. Choose a specialist only if its tools suit your project.
- Consider phone versus tablet. Phones can work for quick sketches and smaller illustrations. A tablet offers more room for palettes and detailed work. Some phones may have canvas-size or layer limits due to RAM.
- Check pen compatibility. Pressure, tilt, palm rejection, and stylus-only input depend on the device, pen, app, and settings. A basic capacitive stylus behaves like a fingertip; it does not provide pressure sensitivity or palm rejection.
- Check export and file handoff. If you need editable layers in desktop software, confirm supported formats and test a small PSD export and import. Compatibility is not identical across apps, and some app-specific features may be lost.
- Compare the full cost model. A free download may have ads, feature limits, a trial, a one-time unlock, optional membership, subscription, paid materials, or account-dependent cloud features. Verify current terms in your region.
- Try a small project first. Test the brush response, layers, and the export format you plan to use before committing to a major project.
Stylus and tablet compatibility
A stylus is not required for every drawing workflow, and no generic Android pen guarantees pressure sensitivity. Check the exact phone or tablet model, the pen technology it supports, and the app’s documentation. An Android-compatible active stylus may provide drawing features unavailable from a capacitive pen, but compatibility remains device-specific.
Consider an Android tablet with a compatible pressure-sensitive pen only if you need a larger canvas or a more comfortable space for detailed work. A tablet is not required to use these apps.

Can you move artwork between apps?
Some apps offer PSD export, but that does not guarantee that every layer, effect, or app-specific feature will transfer intact. If you need to continue editing a file in another program, test the export and import with a small project first. Check the target app’s requirements and confirm that the relevant feature is available in your chosen tier.
