Before buying, use Hakko’s FX-601 product information and tip information to confirm the regional model, voltage, included tip and replacement-tip compatibility. The cited sources do not establish a universal best tip or temperature setting for every stained-glass project.
Weller 80 W: a listed alternative for US buyers
Weller’s US product page lists stained glass as a recommended application for its 80 W iron and specifies a 120 V supply and 482°C heating range. Those figures apply to the US version shown on that page; they should not be assumed to describe a 230 V model or a different Weller iron.

Product names and model numbers matter when comparing specifications. Hakko’s FX-600D page lists a 200–540°C temperature range and power consumption that varies with input voltage, but the FX-600D is a different model from the FX-601. Do not use those figures as FX-601 specifications. See Hakko’s FX-600D specifications only if you are evaluating that model.
The available manufacturer information supports a shortlist and a feature comparison, not a conclusion about bead quality, heat recovery under load, long-term durability, reliability or value. No cited independent test establishes those outcomes.
