Build Me Up Baby Quilt is a 52 × 60-inch brick-style quilt designed by Joanie Holton of Tailormade by Design. The pattern uses 50 blocks, blue sashing and a solid-blue border; its original fabric palette is Tilda’s Windy Days collection with yellow, pink, aqua and blue solids. Naomi Polzin is credited as machine quilter.

Quilt size and layout
The finished quilt measures 52 × 60 inches. Each finished block measures 4¾ × 9½ inches. The pattern joins a floral rectangle to a solid rectangle to make each of its 50 brick-style blocks, then arranges the blocks with blue sashing in 11 rows. A solid-blue border completes the top.

The pattern specifies four blue sashing strips measuring 2½ × 48 inches, followed by two 2½ × 56-inch and two 2½ × 52-inch blue border strips. Measurements include ¼-inch seam allowances.

Fabric, backing and batting requirements
Yardages and cutting instructions assume 42 inches of usable fabric width. The named collection is Tilda Fabrics’ Windy Days; the pattern pairs its prints with solid colors.

The pattern does not specify a batting fiber, loft or brand. If substituting fabrics, choose prints and solids that provide a similar palette; substitutes need not be identical to Windy Days.

How the blocks and quilt go together
1. Plan print orientation
Decide which way each block will face before attaching its solid rectangle. Rotating a block can leave a directional print upside down, so check the motifs while planning the layout.

2. Make the 50 blocks
Each block joins a floral rectangle measuring 5¼ × 8⅜ inches to a solid rectangle measuring 2⅛ × 5¼ inches. Follow the pattern’s cutting and piecing instructions, maintaining the specified ¼-inch seam allowances.

3. Assemble the rows and center
Arrange the blocks and four 2½ × 48-inch blue sashing strips into 11 rows, following the pattern layout. Join the rows to form a quilt center measuring 48 × 56 inches including seam allowances.
4. Add the border, quilt and bind
Use the two 2½ × 56-inch and two 2½ × 52-inch blue strips for the borders. Layer the top with the 60 × 68-inch batting and backing, baste, quilt and bind with the remaining blue strips. The pattern includes instructions for these finishing steps.

Quilting design in the published example
The sample combines a diagonal 1-inch grid or a wavy design across the block rows, circles in the sashing rows and a looping design in the border. These are examples from the pattern, not required choices; the instructions cover quilting without prescribing a particular machine, batting type or brand.
Pattern and kit availability
The project was published by American Patchwork & Quilting / AllPeopleQuilt. Its Winter 2022 issue listing, published October 12, 2021, also identifies Joanie Holton and Tilda’s Windy Days collection. A Canadian retailer listing for a coordinated 52 × 60-inch kit describes top fabrics, Chambray solids and binding, but reports the kit out of stock and excludes both backing and the pattern. Check the listing’s current stock and contents before relying on it.
