A “Burberry-inspired” cowl-neck scarf is best understood as a style idea—not proof that Burberry makes or endorses the particular cowl you have found. The look can mean a plaid knit loop or a cable-knit neck warmer. You can choose a finished scarf, or use a published knitting pattern to make one in your preferred fit and colors.
What “Burberry-inspired” means for a cowl
Burberry’s heritage page describes its check cashmere scarf as an iconic design whose check originated as an accessory idea based on the lining of a trench coat. The company says that scarf is made in Scotland by long-standing partner Johnstons of Elgin, using traditional looms, careful dyeing, teasel brushing and fringed finishing. Those are statements about Burberry’s own check cashmere scarf, not specifications for an inspired cowl. Burberry: Made in the UK, the Scarf.
Burberry’s separate US listing for a Check Wool Hooded Scarf specifies 100% wool, dimensions of 195 × 30 cm (76.8 × 11.8 in), blanket stitching and specialist dry-clean care. Choose between plaid and cable styles
Plaid knit cowl
Paisley’s Burberry Inspired Plaid Cowl is a knit pattern listed with aran-weight yarn and US 6 / 4 mm needles. Its approximate finished size is 9 inches wide and 47 inches in circumference. The listing says the design can be customized and made as either an infinity scarf or a straight scarf. Treat those measurements and supplies as belonging to this pattern, not as standard cowl sizing. Ravelry: Burberry Inspired Plaid Cowl.

Cable-knit cowl
The Garter Girl’s Burberry Inspired Cowl Neck Scarf uses a cable motif, with a reversible ribbed cable as the designer’s starting point. Its materials list calls for size 10 knitting needles, two balls of Cascade Yarns Venezia Merino Silk, a cable needle and finishing tools. A Ravelry listing for Julianne Smith’s pattern describes the pictured cowl as 20 inches long and says it used two balls of Cascade Venezia Bulky, listed as 70% merino and 30% silk. These are specifications from the respective pattern pages, not independent yarn tests; do not combine their dimensions or supplies. How to choose a finished scarf or a pattern
If you are shopping for a finished piece, check whether it is a closed cowl or a long infinity loop, then compare its stated width and circumference, fiber, weight, color layout and care instructions. If making one, select a pattern first and follow its stated yarn weight, gauge, tools, dimensions and construction instructions; supplies for a plaid pattern may not suit a cable pattern. Choose a pattern that matches the shape you want, since the plaid design listing allows either a loop or a straight scarf.

Fiber and care depend on the actual item. The cited cable-cowl page specifies a merino-silk yarn, while Burberry’s separate wool hooded scarf listing gives its own fiber and dry-clean care. Neither tells you how to wash an unrelated inspired cowl: use the instructions for the yarn or finished product you select.

The Garter Girl page sets restrictions on reproducing its pattern and commercially selling garments made from it. Read the original terms before using the pattern, and link to the page rather than copying its instructions into another article. Read the pattern and its terms.
