Cabin in the Woods is a 70½ × 84½-inch quilt designed by Katie Hennagir, featuring Bear’s Paw, Log Cabin, and star blocks. American Patchwork & Quilting ran its quilt-along from October 23 through December 3, 2023; that schedule is over, but the organizer says you can sew the quilt at your own pace using the pattern.
What is the Cabin in the Woods quilt?
AllPeopleQuilt describes the project as: “Use flannel (or cotton) to piece timeless Bear’s Paw, Log Cabin, and star blocks for a warm wintertime quilt.” The finished quilt measures 70½ × 84½ inches. The APQ Shop catalog lists the finished blocks as 14 inches square.

The project appeared in the December 2023 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting. AllPeopleQuilt’s project page identifies Katie Hennagir as the designer and gives the original quilt-along dates as October 23–December 3, 2023.
Where to find the pattern
AllPeopleQuilt’s project page links to the individual pattern in PDF-download and printed-pattern formats, and to a digital issue through Zinio. The page says the December 2023 print magazine is sold out. The APQ Shop catalog also lists the individual Cabin in the Woods pattern. Check those organizer and shop listings for current format availability, stock, and price, which can change.

To locate the official options, look for “Cabin in the Woods” on the AllPeopleQuilt project page or in the APQ Shop catalog. The organizer’s October 6, 2023 podcast announcement also identifies the quilt-along and its dates.

Flannel or cotton?
The organizer permits either flannel or cotton. Its featured collections are Woolies Flannel by Bonnie Sullivan for Maywood Studio and Mammoth Flannel by Robert Kaufman Fabrics; the materials page does not make those specific lines mandatory. Choose based on the fabric hand and warmth you want, what is available, and which material you prefer to handle. The project source does not rank the two fabrics or report a performance comparison.

The weekly sew-along ran from October 23 to December 3, 2023. AllPeopleQuilt says participants can work at their own pace, so the dated event is not a prerequisite to making the quilt. Its project page refers to a recommended sewing schedule shown in a graphic, but the weekly task breakdown is not available in the page text; no week-by-week plan can be stated reliably here.
