Yes—but “fake wood and paint textures” needs qualification. Anker’s creator-focused printer, now marketed as the eufyMake E1, can deposit and UV-cure ink in layers to create raised reliefs that look and feel like wood grain, brushstrokes, embossing, canvas texture, leather, stone and other decorative finishes.
It does not manufacture wood, apply conventional paint or reproduce every physical property of a natural or painted surface. The most accurate description is a full-color UV-ink printer that simulates material texture with printed relief.
What the eufyMake E1 actually is
The E1 is a compact, direct-to-object UV inkjet printer. Instead of extruding filament or curing resin into a freestanding object, it prints onto an existing surface. UV light hardens each deposited ink layer during the print process.

For texture printing, the artwork contains both color information and a concept for height. The printer builds up controlled layers of ink, cures them, and gradually forms a raised pattern. That makes the E1 closer to a compact 3D-texture UV printer or relief printer than to a conventional filament or resin 3D printer.
eufyMake advertises printing on more than 300 materials, including wood, metal, acrylic, ceramics, stone, glass, canvas, leather, fabric and film. That is a manufacturer compatibility claim, not a guarantee that every untreated example will deliver identical adhesion, detail or durability.
The official US specifications list a print area of approximately 330 × 420 mm, advertised texture height of up to 5 mm, and resolution of up to 1,440 DPI. The machine itself measures approximately 590 × 250 × 407 mm and weighs about 20 kg.

How it creates a wood-like texture
There are two separate effects:
- Visual wood simulation: colors and grain imagery make a surface look like wood.
- Tactile relief: raised lines give the grain a physical texture under the fingers.
A design might use directional lines and brown, tan or gray color variation to imitate oak, weathered boards or painted timber. The printer then raises selected parts of that design with additional UV-cured ink.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The result can be printed onto acrylic, metal, ceramic or another smooth blank to create a wood-like decorative surface. It can also be printed onto actual wood. In that case, the result is a hybrid: the printed image and raised ink sit on top of the wood, while the blank’s own color and grain may remain visible.
Independent testing found that relatively neutral wood blanks with unobtrusive grain could work well, particularly when a white base layer was omitted. Pronounced grain can add character, but it can also interfere with fine details. A dark or heavily textured blank will influence the final appearance more strongly than a smooth, pale one.
White ink is important here. A white underlayer can make colors brighter and more opaque on dark materials, but it can also conceal some of the natural grain underneath. If the wood already has a suitable color, reducing or omitting white may produce a more integrated result.

The E1 can create raised, irregular-looking ink layers that suggest:
- Oil-paint impasto.
- Brush marks.
- Raised lettering.
- Embossed illustrations.
- Canvas texture.
- Glossy varnished areas.
A flat artwork can therefore gain both visible and tactile variation. A painted-looking highlight may be printed with extra height, while selected areas receive gloss ink to create a different sheen. On canvas, a texture map can make an image feel more like a painted artwork rather than a flat reproduction.
However, this is still cured printer ink. It is not oil or acrylic paint. Its hardness, sheen, edge profile, flexibility and aging behavior differ from those of an artist’s paint film. The comparison is strongest for wall art, signs, plaques, cards, decorative panels and other relatively flat objects—not for reproducing every quality of a thick hand-painted surface.
What “up to 5 mm texture” really means
eufyMake advertises a maximum texture height of 5 mm. That is a capability limit, not a recommendation for every project.
A dramatic relief can work well on a large decorative panel, but it may look excessive on small lettering, a card or a frequently handled object. Greater height generally means more ink use and longer printing, and fine details may lose definition if too much material builds up around them. A sensible workflow is to begin with a lower relief setting, print a small sample and increase the height only when the design benefits from it.
What independent testing reveals
Independent coverage supports the basic claim that the E1 can create a tactile 3D effect rather than merely a flat image. Reviews have also reported successful paint-like treatments on canvas and useful results on wood.

The limitations are just as important:
- Fabric is difficult. A tote bag or garment must be held flat and rigid enough for accurate printing. Clearance and alignment can make fabric applications less straightforward than promotional images suggest.
- Substrate texture affects detail. Canvas weave, rough ceramic and pronounced wood grain can add character while reducing edge sharpness.
- Software is approachable but not foolproof. The physical print depends on correct artwork, dimensions, texture information, layer choices and positioning.
- Durability is not universal. A decorative sample does not prove resistance to scratching, outdoor exposure, repeated washing or industrial handling.
Reported object clearance is roughly 60 mm, or 2.36 inches, according to independent testing. That can make thick objects, garments, tote bags and irregular blanks difficult or impossible to position correctly.
See WIRED’s review, Gizmodo’s general review and its material testing for additional independent observations.

Materials, layers and preparation
The E1 ecosystem includes CMYK color inks, white ink, gloss or varnish ink, flexible white ink for some fabric applications and cleaning cartridges. The white layer controls opacity; gloss can add shine and visual depth; the raised structure comes from accumulated ink layers rather than gloss alone.
Surface preparation is essential. Smooth metal, acrylic, glass, painted surfaces and some plastics may need cleaning or an adhesion promoter. eufyMake sells separate acrylic and metal adhesion-promoter preparation pads, which is a useful indication that adhesion should not be assumed.
Printing over an existing painted surface is therefore substrate-dependent. The paint should be fully cured, stable and free of chalky or loose material. Gloss, matte, solvent-sensitive and powdery coatings may behave differently. Test adhesion before committing a valuable object or promising a customer a permanent finish.
Curved objects create additional alignment problems. Optional accessories support some cylindrical workflows, but the basic flatbed process is best suited to flat or carefully fixtured objects. Handles, rims, tapered walls, deep recesses and side surfaces may not receive ink properly.
Practical projects that suit the E1
- Wood plaques: print a colored grain design, lettering or raised ornament onto a prepared blank.
- Canvas artwork: add brushstroke-like relief to selected parts of a reproduction or original design.
- Acrylic signs: combine opaque white, color and gloss layers for raised lettering and graphic panels.
- Ceramic magnets and coasters: produce small personalized items with tactile logos or illustrations.
- Leather-like panels: create decorative relief on a suitable, supported surface, subject to adhesion testing.
- Short-run merchandise: customize rigid gifts and signs without making screens or plates for each design.
The workflow still requires more than pressing Print. You need suitable artwork, a texture or height-map concept, accurate object dimensions, stable fixturing, appropriate white and gloss decisions, surface preparation and a test print.

Where the E1 is a poor fit
- Large-format production.
- Thick or highly irregular objects.
- Loose fabric without a reliable support system.
- Industrial coatings or outdoor applications that have not been tested.
- Freestanding 3D objects.
- Very low-cost, high-volume production.
- Users unwilling to manage UV ink, cleaning cycles and printhead maintenance.
It also should not be described as a replacement for real wood, traditional paint or an industrial finishing system. It can reproduce a decorative appearance and tactile relief, but not the fibrous structure of wood, the flexibility and aging of paint, or the strength of a wooden object.
Costs and ownership considerations
On the US product pages observed in August 2026, the E1 was listed at approximately $2,199 for the printer without ink, $2,499 for a basic bundle and $3,299 for a deluxe bundle. Prices, stock, taxes, shipping and bundle contents vary by region and promotion.
Consumables matter. eufyMake’s ink-and-cleaning kit was listed at $209.99 and includes CMYK, white and gloss ink plus cleaning capacity according to the product page. Individual 100 ml cartridges were listed at $29.99 after a July 13, 2026 US price reduction. The official ink information lists a 12-month shelf life for ink cartridges and 18 months for cleaning cartridges, measured from production under the company’s stated conditions.

That makes the E1 more appropriate for buyers who value compact tactile customization than for someone seeking the cheapest possible decoration method. Include proprietary ink, cleaning supplies, maintenance and possible printhead replacement in the ownership calculation.
Check the current ink range and cleaning-kit details before buying.
Which alternative may be better?
- Laser engraver: better for cutting and permanently engraving wood, acrylic, leather and some coated metals, but it does not provide full-color raised ink.
- Sublimation printer: usually more economical for compatible polyester textiles and coated blanks, but it does not create tactile relief.
- DTF or UV-DTF: useful when transferring graphics to irregular surfaces is more important than printing direct relief.
- Conventional paint: better for actual paint thickness, flexible coatings, restoration, large surfaces and some outdoor applications.
- Resin or filament 3D printer: better for creating freestanding three-dimensional objects.
- Larger flatbed UV printer: better for established print shops needing more production capacity, though generally larger and more expensive.
Verdict
The claim is broadly true: the eufyMake E1 can create convincing wood-like grain and paint-like brushstroke textures by building raised layers of UV-cured ink. Its strongest use case is short-run, full-color customization on flat or well-supported objects such as plaques, signs, canvas, acrylic, ceramic and selected wood blanks.
But “fake wood” and “paint texture” describe an effect, not a material transformation. Results depend on the artwork, relief height, white and gloss layers, surface preparation, blank texture and handling conditions. Treat the E1 as a compact tactile direct-to-object printer—not as a conventional 3D printer, a paint sprayer or a substitute for real wood.
