ChromaSet Brings Multi-Filament Printing to Compatible 3D Printers

Co Print ChromaSet adds multi-filament printing to compatible FDM printers, but the right kit depends on the machine’s firmware, control board and configuration.

Co Print’s ChromaSet is a multi-filament upgrade system for compatible existing FDM printers—not a universal plug-in accessory. Whether it will work with your printer depends on its firmware, control board and configuration. Check Co Print’s current compatibility selector and your exact model before buying.

What ChromaSet adds to a 3D printer

ChromaSet combines components intended to add multi-filament printing and printer-control features to an existing FDM machine. Co Print’s store lists ChromaSet alongside the KCM Set, ChromaHead, ChromaPad, KCM, ECM and CX-I Extruder. Which parts you need depends on the printer and the configuration you choose; it is not simply a spool holder that works identically on every machine. See Co Print’s product overview and official shop.

Is your printer compatible?

Do not treat “any 3D printer” or broad universal-compatibility wording as confirmation for a specific model. Co Print’s shop separates a ChromaSet path for standard printers from a KCM Set path for Klipper-based machines. Its campaign FAQ says that compatibility with non-Klipper printers depends on whether the control-board processor can run Klipper. Check the current selector and the listing for your exact printer model before ordering; firmware family alone may not settle whether a particular board and setup are supported.

Creality’s November 14, 2023 announcement names the Ender-3 line, K1 series and CR-6 SE among compatible examples. Those examples are not an exhaustive or current compatibility audit, so confirm your exact model and configuration with Co Print’s current documentation.

ChromaSet or KCM Set: which path should you compare?

What to check ChromaSet path KCM Set path
Printer software/configuration Co Print presents this as the path for standard printers; confirm the exact model and controller support. Co Print presents this as the path for Klipper-based printers; confirm the exact model and configuration.
Control approach Check the current kit contents and whether your setup requires ChromaPad. Check how KCM fits your existing Klipper setup and what components are included.
Filament expansion Co Print says ChromaPad supports four filaments natively and ECM can expand the setup to 20 colors. Capacity for a particular KCM configuration is not stated in the sources cited here; verify with Co Print.
Extruder and installation Co Print says other extruders can work, while recommending CX-1 for best performance; check installation requirements for your printer. Check the extruder and installation requirements for your exact configuration with Co Print.
Current price, stock and shipping Check Co Print’s current shop listing. Check Co Print’s current shop listing.

This is a configuration checklist, not an independent head-to-head test. The cited sources do not establish comparable setup times, performance, or costs for the two paths.

How many colors can you print with ChromaSet?

Co Print says ChromaPad supports up to four filaments natively and that adding an Extended Chroma Module (ECM) can expand the system to 20 colors. The campaign FAQ, last updated November 2, 2023, describes these as product capabilities. They are manufacturer claims, not independently verified results in the sources cited here. Check the current product documentation for the components and configuration required to reach the expanded capacity.

What about speed and controlling several printers?

Creality’s November 14, 2023 partner announcement claims print speeds of 300+ mm/s and control of up to eight printers. It describes ChromaScreen as software developed using Klipper Screen technology and says ChromaPad can provide a single panel for printer control, including remote oversight. These are claims in a vendor announcement, not independently verified benchmark results; the announcement does not establish that every supported printer or setup will achieve the stated speed or multi-printer workflow.

What to verify before ordering

  1. Find your exact model. Use Co Print’s current compatibility selector and documentation rather than relying only on a product headline or a broad family name.
  2. Check the firmware and controller. Determine whether your machine is already Klipper-based or whether its control-board processor can run Klipper, as Co Print says may matter for non-Klipper printers.
  3. Choose the matching product path. Compare the ChromaSet and KCM Set listings against your machine’s software and required control hardware.
  4. Confirm filament capacity and parts. If you want more than the stated four-filament native setup, verify ECM availability and the components needed for the expanded configuration.
  5. Check extruder and installation details. Co Print recommends CX-1 for best performance but says other extruders can work; confirm fit and setup requirements for your exact printer.
  6. Verify current buying details. Check price, stock, shipping, support and compatibility documentation on Co Print’s current shop pages before committing.
