For most Samsung Galaxy phone owners, the easiest way to design a personal theme is Galaxy Store → Good Lock → Theme Park → Theme → Create new. You can start with a wallpaper, generate a color palette, refine system colors, and apply the result without coding, rooting, or using a computer.
This creates a personal theme for your phone—not automatically a theme that can be published in the Galaxy Store. Samsung’s professional publishing route is a separate product called Galaxy Themes Studio.

What “make your own Samsung theme” can mean
Samsung offers three different levels of customization:
- Basic personalization: Change the wallpaper, Light/Dark mode, Samsung color palette, or a downloaded theme and icon pack.
- Personal DIY theme: Use Good Lock’s Theme Park to build and apply a theme directly on a compatible Galaxy phone.
- Professional theme publishing: Use Galaxy Themes Studio to create distributable Galaxy Store themes. This requires Samsung’s designer approval process.
For a personal phone makeover, Theme Park is the right choice. It does not automatically create a public Galaxy Store listing or redesign every app.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- A compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
- A Samsung account. Samsung says one is required for Galaxy Themes access; see its official support guidance.
- The Galaxy Store.
- Good Lock and its Theme Park module.
- A wallpaper or image to use as the visual foundation.
- Preferably, a stable current version of One UI.
Good Lock and its modules are not guaranteed to be available on every model, country, carrier, or One UI release. Menus and controls can also change after updates. This guide is primarily for compatible Galaxy phones; tablet support has varied, and Samsung’s current US guidance does not generally support Galaxy Themes on Galaxy Tabs.
Step 1: Install Good Lock
- Open Galaxy Store.
- Search for Good Lock.
- Install the Samsung app, or use the official Galaxy Store listing.
- Open Good Lock.
If Good Lock does not appear, search for it directly in Galaxy Store, update Galaxy Store and your phone, and check whether your model and region support it. Avoid treating unofficial APK downloads as an equivalent or risk-free solution.
Step 2: Install Theme Park
- In Good Lock, open the Family section. The exact layout may differ in newer releases.
- Find Theme Park.
- Tap the install button or the Galaxy Store link.
- Return to Good Lock and open Theme Park.
If Theme Park is missing, the cause may be regional availability, an unsupported device, a recent One UI release, or beta-software incompatibility. Search Galaxy Store directly and install pending Good Lock, Theme Park, Galaxy Store, and One UI updates.
Step 3: Create a new theme
- Open Theme Park.
- Select Theme.
- Tap Create new or + Create new.
- Choose an image from Gallery or select an existing wallpaper.
- Crop or reposition it if prompted.
- Continue to the editor.
The image is more than a background. Theme Park can use it to suggest coordinated color palettes. Samsung Members walkthroughs describe this basic Theme Park workflow, although labels may vary between releases.
Step 4: Choose and refine the color palette
Theme Park normally offers several automatically generated palettes based on your chosen image. Compare them in both Light mode and Dark mode; look for the Light/Dark preview control, whose position can change between versions.

Refine the theme in this order:
- Set the wallpaper and major background surfaces.
- Choose the primary accent color.
- Check text and icon contrast.
- Adjust Quick Panel controls and notification surfaces.
- Review the Dark-mode version separately.
- Test the finished design outside the editor.
Do not judge a palette only by its appearance on the Home screen. Open notifications, the Quick Panel, dialogs, system menus, and sliders. Avoid bright, saturated backgrounds behind white text, and make sure selected and disabled controls are visibly different. A dark, less saturated background can also improve readability and may use less power on an OLED display.
Step 5: Customize icons
Depending on your device and One UI version, Theme Park may include an Icons section or related icon controls. These can affect supported launcher icons, but they will not necessarily replace every app icon.
Some apps may keep their original artwork, use a generic fallback, or behave differently because of adaptive or dynamic icons. A downloaded icon pack is another option. Samsung’s general path is:
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Themes, then Icons.
- Choose an icon pack.
- Tap Download or the displayed price.
- Apply it.
Icon styles and effects have changed across One UI releases, so a feature shown in an older guide may not be available on your phone.
Step 6: Customize the keyboard
If Theme Park shows a keyboard section, it can provide basic appearance controls for Samsung Keyboard. For more detailed Samsung Keyboard customization, look for Keys Cafe in Good Lock.
These controls generally do not redesign Gboard, SwiftKey, or another third-party keyboard. If you use a non-Samsung keyboard, check that app’s own theme settings.
Step 7: Customize the Quick Panel
Theme Park may provide a separate Quick Panel editor. Test all of the following after making changes:

- Active and inactive toggles.
- Notification text and cards.
- Brightness and other sliders.
- Compact and expanded Quick Panel views.
- Icons against both light and dark surfaces.
A preview can look acceptable while real notifications or expanded controls remain difficult to read. Recheck the panel after applying the theme.
Step 8: Customize the volume panel
If your version includes Volume panel:
- Open Volume panel in Theme Park.
- Tap Create new.
- Choose colors and styling.
- Preview the result.
- Save and apply it.
Test media, ringtone, and alarm volume, plus the expanded controls. Samsung community reports have documented cases where custom volume-panel icons become difficult to see, so use strong contrast in both Light and Dark mode.

- Tap the save or download icon.
- Give the theme a name.
- Save it.
- Select it from Theme Park’s main screen.
- Tap Apply.
Save a second version before making major changes. Keeping a known-good copy makes it easier to recover from a poor color combination or a broken component.
How to restore the default theme
Samsung says an applied Galaxy Theme cannot simply be undone; you must apply the default theme or another theme.
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Themes.
- Open My stuff.
- Choose the default theme or another saved theme.
- Tap Apply.
If only one Theme Park component is malfunctioning, first apply another saved theme or the default theme, restart the phone, and update Good Lock and Theme Park through Galaxy Store. Then rebuild the affected component instead of changing every setting at once.
What Theme Park cannot change
- It does not redesign every third-party app.
- It does not guarantee a custom icon for every installed app.
- It does not override app-specific Light/Dark settings.
- It does not automatically publish your design to Galaxy Store.
- Some system areas remain controlled by Samsung.
- A theme may not look identical on another Galaxy model.
- Controls can change or disappear after One UI and Good Lock updates.
Samsung notes that individual apps can control their own appearance; Samsung Internet and Chrome, for example, have separate theme behavior.

Theme Park is missing
Check Galaxy Store directly, update Good Lock and One UI, and confirm that Good Lock is supported in your region and on your model. If the problem began after beta software, the module may not yet be compatible. Samsung Community reports have documented temporary Good Lock module availability problems during One UI beta testing.

Some icons do not change
The icon pack may not support those apps, or the launcher may not support the relevant behavior. Try Samsung’s default launcher, apply a supported icon pack, or replace individual Home-screen shortcuts manually.
Text is unreadable
Choose a darker or less saturated background, increase text-to-surface contrast, and test both Light and Dark modes. Check notifications and the Quick Panel, not just the theme editor.
Quick Panel or volume icons disappear
This is usually a contrast or rendering problem. Try higher-contrast colors, test active and inactive states, apply the default theme and rebuild the component, then update Theme Park and One UI.
The theme changes after an update
Samsung can change system surfaces, icon behavior, editor controls, preview rendering, and module compatibility. Keep a screenshot or note of your palette so you can rebuild it if necessary.
Theme Park versus Galaxy Themes Studio
Theme Park is best when you want a personal look quickly and do not plan to distribute or sell it. It works on the phone, starts from your wallpaper, and stays within Samsung’s supported customization boundaries.
Galaxy Themes Studio is a professional authoring system for designers creating distributable Galaxy Themes, wallpapers, icons, and always-on-display assets. Samsung describes a process involving a Samsung account, a design concept, portfolio submission, review, and approval. The public page describes a previous recruitment cycle and should not be treated as proof that applications are open in 2026. Check Samsung’s current developer page for eligibility and availability.
A Theme Park design is therefore not automatically a commercial Galaxy Store product.
Which option should you choose?

Samsung supports both free and paid premade themes, although prices vary by theme and region. A paid listing may offer a trial where available; $0.99 is only an example in Samsung’s support documentation, not a universal price.
