If you want to record painting demonstrations, time-lapses, studio tours, or process videos, Adobe’s current desktop video editor is branded Premiere in its 2026 documentation. Many Adobe pages still call it Premiere Pro, so either name may appear during the download process.
The desktop version for Windows and macOS is installed through Adobe Creative Cloud. The iPhone and iPad version is a separate App Store application called Adobe Premiere AI Video Editor. There is currently no public Premiere mobile app for Android; Adobe says an Android version is in development.

Download Premiere on Windows or macOS
Premiere is not normally distributed as a standalone .exe or .dmg file. Adobe uses Creative Cloud to download, install, license, and update the desktop application.
First installation
- Open Adobe Home and sign in to your Adobe account.
- Select the Apps tab.
- Find Premiere. It may still be labelled Premiere Pro in some parts of Adobe’s website.
- Select Download.
- Follow the installer instructions.
If Creative Cloud is not already installed, Adobe installs the Creative Cloud desktop app first. Creative Cloud then downloads Premiere.
If Creative Cloud is already installed
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop application.
- Select Apps.
- Locate Premiere.
- Click Install.
Premiere normally opens automatically when installation finishes.
Direct Creative Cloud installer
If the Adobe download page does not start correctly, use Adobe’s direct Creative Cloud installer. On Windows, download the applicable installer, extract the archive, and double-click Set-up.exe. On macOS, extract the downloaded installer and double-click Install.
Creative Cloud itself is installed in Adobe’s default location; Adobe does not provide an option to place the Creative Cloud desktop app on another drive. Premiere cannot be installed on removable flash storage, according to Adobe’s requirements.
Premiere desktop requirements
Adobe’s current requirements page covers Premiere versions 26.0 and 26.2. Check these minimums before downloading, particularly if you are editing high-resolution footage from a camera or phone.

For HD editing, Adobe recommends 16 GB of RAM. For 4K work or larger projects, Adobe recommends 32 GB or more and a fast internal SSD.
Adobe requires an internet connection and an Adobe ID for desktop activation and use. An Adobe account without a Premiere entitlement will not provide a working installation.

Free trial and subscription
Adobe’s current Premiere plan includes a 7-day free trial of the full desktop application and the iPhone version. After the trial ends, continued use requires a paid plan.
If you use a school or company Adobe account and do not see Download or Install, the issue may be account permissions rather than your computer. An administrator must assign Premiere through Adobe Admin Console for team and enterprise accounts.
Download Premiere on iPhone or iPad
The mobile application is not the desktop Premiere Pro app in a smaller window. It is a separate product listed by Apple as Adobe Premiere AI Video Editor.
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Search for Adobe Premiere AI Video Editor.
- Confirm that the developer is Adobe Inc.
- Tap Get.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple Account password.
- Open Premiere once installation is complete.
Apple’s current U.S. App Store listing requires iOS 18.0 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 18.0 or later on iPad. Apple also lists compatibility with visionOS. The iPhone interface is portrait-only; iPad supports both portrait and landscape orientations, according to Adobe.

You can edit, save projects locally, and export without signing in. An Adobe account is needed for some assets and cloud-based features. Wi-Fi or cellular data is required for cloud libraries, generative AI, and other online functions.
Send a mobile painting video to desktop Premiere
Adobe can transfer a mobile project to desktop Premiere through cloud storage.
- Open the project in Premiere on your iPhone or iPad.
- Choose the option to send the project to Premiere on desktop.
- Open Premiere on your Windows PC or Mac.
- Sign in with the same Adobe account used on the mobile device.
- Confirm that cloud storage is enabled and has enough available space.
The project and its media use Adobe cloud storage during the transfer. This is useful for starting a quick studio clip on an iPad and finishing the edit—with colour correction, titles, or music—on a computer.
Install an older version
Creative Cloud generally offers the current version and the previous major version, not every historical release. To check what is available:

- Open Creative Cloud.
- Find Premiere in the Apps tab.
- Open the app tile’s More actions menu, shown as three dots.
- Select Other versions.
- Choose the required version and select Install.
Creative Cloud removes the previous version by default when installing a new one. To keep an older version, open the Creative Cloud Account menu, choose Preferences, select Apps, and enable Auto-update. Open Advanced options for Premiere, deselect Remove older versions, and select Done.
Fix common download and installation problems
Creative Cloud will not install
Adobe lists Creative Cloud installation failures including codes 1, P1, 50, P50, 301, C301, 1001, and 1002. Use Adobe’s Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller and select Repair first. If repair fails, uninstall Creative Cloud, download a fresh installer, and reinstall it. If the installation remains corrupted, Adobe’s Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool is the next step.

Administrator privileges may be required. Before removing Creative Cloud, Adobe advises uninstalling the other Creative Cloud applications and waiting for file synchronisation to finish.
Premiere does not appear
- Check that the signed-in Adobe account has a Premiere plan or assigned licence.
- Check that you are using the correct personal, school, or company profile.
- Confirm that your operating system meets Adobe’s current requirements.
- Search for Premiere rather than relying on the older Premiere Pro name.
- Look under More actions > Other versions if you need the previous major release.
Adobe normally makes only the latest and previous major versions available for subscription apps, so a much older release may not be listed.

Recheck Adobe’s current 26.x requirements. In particular, Premiere now requires Windows 11 version 24H2 or macOS Sonoma 14. Older instructions mentioning Windows 10 or macOS Monterey apply to previous releases. On Windows, the processor must also support AVX2.

The iPhone app is Adobe Premiere AI Video Editor, not a mobile version of the complete desktop application. Verify that the App Store developer is Adobe Inc.
Premiere Rush is no longer a new-download option. Adobe stopped making Rush available from Adobe.com and mobile app stores on September 30, 2025. Existing installations may continue working until support ends on September 30, 2026, but Adobe is replacing Rush with Premiere on desktop and Premiere on iPhone.

Is Adobe Premiere Pro free to download?
Adobe offers a 7-day free trial of the desktop application. Continued use after the trial requires a paid Adobe plan.

Can I install Premiere without Creative Cloud?
No. Adobe installs and licenses the desktop version through the Creative Cloud desktop app. There is no normal standalone Premiere .exe or .dmg installer.
Is Premiere available for iPhone and iPad?
Yes. Search the App Store for Adobe Premiere AI Video Editor and confirm that Adobe Inc. is the developer. Apple’s current listing requires iOS 18.0 or iPadOS 18.0 or later.
Can I download Premiere for Android?
Adobe does not currently provide a public Premiere mobile app for Android. Adobe says an Android version is in development.
Why is Premiere missing from Creative Cloud?
Common causes include an account without a Premiere licence, an unassigned school or company account, the wrong Adobe profile, unsupported system requirements, or an older version that Adobe no longer lists.
