Ubuntu 22.04’s official Jammy Jellyfish wallpapers are available from Ubuntu’s Community Hub artwork post, with full-color and greyscale designs, blank variants, and several resolutions. Ubuntu users can also obtain the collection from the Jammy archive with sudo apt install ubuntu-wallpapers-jammy.
Choose a file by its variant, pixel dimensions, and listed format. The artwork post links to JPG and PNG files for many resolutions, but not every variant and size is available in both formats. The retrieved sources do not establish blanket reuse or redistribution rights.
Official Ubuntu 22.04 wallpaper downloads
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is codenamed Jammy Jellyfish. For standalone files, start with Ubuntu’s Official Artwork Downloads for Jammy Jellyfish post. It links to the full-color and greyscale designs and their blank variants.

These dimensions are 16:9. A screen with a different aspect ratio may crop or letterbox the image; avoid stretching it if that distorts the artwork. A larger source can provide more room to crop, but choose a resolution appropriate to your display and needs.
Choose a wallpaper variant
- Full-color: the colorful Jammy design.
- Blank full-color: a clean version for overlays or editing.
- Greyscale: a monochrome version of the design.
- Blank greyscale: a clean monochrome version.
Install the Jammy wallpaper collection on Ubuntu
The Ubuntu Jammy archive lists ubuntu-wallpapers-jammy, version 22.04.4-0ubuntu1, as the Ubuntu 22.04 wallpaper package. Ubuntu Packages lists a download size of 23,094.6 kB and installed size of 23,556.0 kB; these are package sizes, not the dimensions or sizes of individual artwork files.
- Refresh the package index with sudo apt update.
- Install the collection with sudo apt install ubuntu-wallpapers-jammy.
Package availability can depend on your distribution and repository configuration. If the package is unavailable, download individual files from the official artwork post instead.

Check and locate the installed files
To check package information, run apt policy ubuntu-wallpapers-jammy. To list its installed files, run dpkg -L ubuntu-wallpapers-jammy. These commands can help you locate the image files without relying on a particular filename.
Set a downloaded wallpaper
On Ubuntu, open the desktop environment’s appearance or background settings, select the option to add a picture, and choose the downloaded file. The labels and controls vary by desktop environment and version.
On Windows or macOS, download an individual JPG or PNG file and select it through the operating system’s wallpaper settings. Choose a fit or fill mode appropriate for your screen rather than stretching the image.

JPG or PNG?
The artwork post lists JPG and PNG options for many resolutions, while its 8192×4608 entries are JPG. Choose among the formats actually offered for your selected variant and resolution; the retrieved research does not establish a general image-quality advantage for either format.
Ubuntu community and flavor wallpapers
Keep the standard Ubuntu Jammy artwork distinct from community submissions and Ubuntu flavor collections. Xubuntu’s Jammy community wallpapers are a separate collection, packaged as xubuntu-community-wallpapers-jammy, version 22.04.0.
The Jammy Jellyfish wallpaper competition is a separate source of community artwork. A post or image associated with Ubuntu does not by itself establish the image’s reuse terms.
