A bath mitt is a glove-shaped washcloth worn on the hand for washing in a bath or shower. The phrase “Easy Bath Mitt” does not identify a verified brand or model, so this guide covers the product category—not a specific item.
What is a bath mitt?
A bath mitt is a washing surface shaped like a simple glove. Unlike a flat washcloth, it fits over the hand, which may make it easier to hold and move while washing; comparative ergonomic testing was not established in the available sources.

Reusable bath mitts commonly come in cloth or silicone. For example, IKEA lists its GULDVÄVARE washing mitt as reusable and made of 100% cotton. Frida describes its DermaFrida Bath Mitt as silicone with soft bristles, drainage holes and a suction cup. These details apply to those products, not to every mitt.
How do you use a bath mitt?
- Wet the mitt and apply the bathing product you normally use, following its label.
- Wear the mitt and wash with comfortable pressure. If its texture feels unpleasant or irritating, stop and switch to a softer cloth or another washing method.
- Rinse the mitt after bathing, remove excess water and let it dry according to the product’s care instructions.
Is a bath mitt better than a washcloth?
Neither is established as universally better. A mitt’s hand-worn shape may be convenient if you prefer keeping the washing surface on your hand; a flat washcloth is a simpler alternative if you do not want a glove-shaped item. No comparative evidence here establishes that either cleans better, is more hygienic, or is preferable for sensitive skin.

What should you look for when choosing one?
- Material and texture: Choose between cloth and silicone based on the feel and care directions you want. IKEA’s example is cotton; Frida’s is silicone with maker-described soft bristles.
- Fit and intended user: Check dimensions or sizing. Frida says its mitt is intended for children and adults, while Parker Baby Co. lists a child-focused cloth critter mitt. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent safety or fit assessments.
- Cleaning and drying: Check the specific product’s instructions and any drying features. IKEA instructs users to wash its mitt before first use and provides machine-washing and drying directions. Frida says its product has drainage holes to help water escape and describes it as easy to clean.
- Storage: Look for a hanging loop, suction cup or another storage feature only if it suits your bathroom. Parker Baby Co. lists a hanging loop; Frida describes a suction cup on its product.
How do you wash a bath mitt?
Follow the care label rather than assuming all mitts can be cleaned the same way. IKEA’s GULDVÄVARE page says to wash the mitt before first use and gives machine-washing and drying instructions. Frida describes cleaning and drainage features for its silicone mitt, but those instructions should not be generalized to other products. The available sources do not establish a universal washing frequency or replacement interval.

In ordinary home bathing, “bath mitt” often means a reusable cloth or silicone item worn on the hand. “Wash glove” can also refer to a disposable, pre-moistened glove used for no-rinse bedside care. Medline’s EasyBath line is described in its January 2026 European brochure as a no-rinse bedside-bathing option with impregnated cloths or wash gloves, including scented and fragrance-free versions and multiple pack configurations. That is a distinct care product, not a reusable household bath mitt.
