This pattern is suitable to make as a gift or a blanket for supervised use, but it should not be presented or used as infant crib bedding. In U.S. safe-sleep guidance, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says not to put quilts or comforters in a crib for infants under 12 months and uses the campaign phrase “Bare is Best.” The American Academy of Pediatrics likewise advises using a fitted sheet only and keeping quilts, blankets, pillows and other soft objects out of a baby’s sleep area.
