Elle King has said she got a neck tattoo in Toronto in 2015, but she did not describe its design. The two-headed snake on her throat that she later joked about was drawn by Dierks Bentley just before a photo—not identified as her permanent tattoo.
What Elle King said about her neck tattoo
In a June 2015 interview, King said a Black Pearl owner invited her to get tattooed when she came through Toronto. She had just finished work, went to the shop and got two tattoos. Asked whether she had intended to get a neck tattoo there, she recalled: “I’d just finished work. I went right in and I got two tattoos. It was really, really fun.” V13 Media’s interview does not identify the neck tattoo’s design.
King also said she had not met the tattooist, Matt Vanasse, in person before the visit; they had exchanged messages. At the shop, she saw ideas that made her laugh and chose two. The interview does not say that either design was a snake.

Why the two-headed snake appears in a photo
In a separate June 2022 interview, King joked about a “2 headed snake in her throat.” She explained that Dierks Bentley drew it on just before they took a picture because “he wanted me to look hard.” American Top 40’s account describes a photo-time drawing. It does not establish that the snake was a permanent tattoo.

What is known about King’s tattoos
A November 2018 Vogue profile reported that King had 55 tattoos at that time. That is a dated count, not a current total. In the profile, King described her style this way: “I like tattoos and shiny things and dressing up, and while I don’t know if I would call myself a rock star, they do whatever the hell they want—and I have no other beauty standards to live by than my own.”
