Time+Tide’s five contributors each chose a personal favourite among the watches made for TimeForArt 2024. Their picks range from an unconventional triangular case to a dial inspired by waves; they are editorial preferences, not a ranked or independently tested top five. The auction estimates below were reported in October 2024 and are not confirmed sale prices or current valuations.
What TimeForArt 2024 was
TimeForArt was a charity auction scheduled for December 7, 2024, in New York, with Phillips as auction partner and 26 supporting brands. The event’s first edition, held in 2022, raised more than US$1 million to support artists through the Swiss Institute, according to Time+Tide’s October 12, 2024 article. Time+Tide
The five watches below are the individual contributors’ favourites from the 2024 selection. Their reported estimates reflect that October 2024 article; the source does not establish realized auction results, present availability, or current market prices.

How the designs differ
Anoma: geometry in the case and dial
Zach’s Anoma A1 TFA24 uses a cushioned triangular silhouette rather than a conventional round case. Time+Tide reported dimensions of 39 mm in diameter, 9.45 mm thick, and 39 mm lug-to-lug. Its black-lacquered dial repeats the geometric idea through engraved offset triangles that catch light in a three-part sunburst pattern.
#1 Best Overall
Toledano & Chan: meteorite beyond the dial
Borna’s b/1m uses Muonionalusta meteorite in both the dial and part of the case, paired with 904L steel and an ostrich-leather strap. Time+Tide also reported that Phil Toledano said in an Instagram comment exchange that a full meteorite bracelet had been considered but was cost-prohibitive. That is the article’s account of the exchange, not a separately verified direct quotation.
Furlan Marri: a deliberately unmarked surface
Jamie chose the Disco Stromatolite, an elevated Disco Volante variant. Its stromatolite dial is left without numerals or minute and seconds tracks, making the material’s surface the visual focus. The article identifies its movement as the Peseux 7001.

Czapek: engraving that suggests mechanics
Russell’s Czapek pick centers on an engraved dial created in collaboration with master engraver Michèle Rothen and dial maker Metalem. The engraving gives a trompe-l’oeil impression of the SXH5 movement; that movement itself has skeletonised bridges and a recycled-platinum micro-rotor.

What the estimates do—and do not—tell you
The reported estimates give a sense of how the watches were presented ahead of the 2024 auction, but they should not be read as sale results, current valuations, or retail prices. The available account does not establish whether any of the lots sold or what they realized. Nor does the selection assess timekeeping accuracy, durability, performance, or value: it records five contributors’ aesthetic preferences.
For a design-focused comparison, the distinctions are more useful than treating the picks as a ranking: Anoma emphasizes case geometry, Toledano & Chan uses meteorite across dial and case, Furlan Marri foregrounds stromatolite, Czapek uses engraving to evoke movement architecture, and Baltic translates a wave concept into a textured dial.
