Short answer: ForeUI is a standalone desktop application for building wireframes, clickable interface prototypes and HTML5 simulations without writing conventional application code. Its flowchart-based behavior editor and switchable visual themes remain distinctive. However, the latest clearly documented release is ForeUI 5.0 from March 29, 2019, and parts of the vendor’s website show signs of legacy maintenance. Try the official trial on your actual computer before paying the listed $150 individual license.

ForeUI, from EaSynth Solution, sits between a static wireframing tool and a coded application. You assemble screens from interface elements, define what happens when users click, hover or make selections, then run the result as an interactive simulation. The vendor positions it for websites, desktop software, mobile concepts and other application interfaces.
#1 Best Overall
It is a desktop, file-based product rather than a browser-first collaboration service. ForeUI can export images, PDFs and HTML5 simulations for reviews, demonstrations and lightweight usability checks. Its HTML5 and web-service features are prototype capabilities, not a replacement for production engineering, secure deployment or an application framework. See the vendor’s overview at foreui.com/overview.
Who it suits
- UX and UI designers exploring early concepts.
- Developers clarifying requirements before implementation.
- Product managers validating workflows.
- Consultants demonstrating proposed solutions.
- Students and hobbyists who want a self-contained desktop tool.
- Teams that work offline or exchange prototype files rather than edit simultaneously.
Its strongest use case is communicating screen flow and behavior before code exists. A team can demonstrate navigation, conditional states and pop-ups without building a backend or a finished interface.
How the interface works
Historical coverage from 2010 describes a central canvas, an element library, an outline or page-structure view and property controls for positioning and styling. Those details explain ForeUI’s design philosophy, but exact panels and menu labels may differ in later builds.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBuild screens by dragging elements
Place controls, text, containers and other objects on a plot or canvas, then resize and edit their properties. Pages or screens form the prototype’s navigation structure. Custom elements and reusable libraries let you avoid rebuilding recurring components.
Rank #2
Change fidelity without rebuilding
ForeUI describes its prototypes as “fidelity-independent” or skinnable: the same structure can be presented with a wireframe, hand-drawn or operating-system-inspired appearance. A 2010 review listed Windows XP, Windows 7, Mac OS X, Wireframing and Hand Drawing themes. Treat that exact five-theme list as historical; confirm the themes included by the installer you use. The broader capability is switching presentation style while preserving the underlying structure.
Define behavior in a flowchart
Instead of writing event handlers, select an element and open its behavior or action editor. Choose an event, add actions and conditions to a flowchart, and connect the resulting states. Historical documentation describes click and mouse-hover events, loops, links, pop-ups and if/else logic. Later vendor updates mention actions for manipulating elements, changing ComboBox items, setting a starting page and changing reference targets dynamically. Documentation and release notes are archived at foreui.com/category/foreui.
Run and export the simulation
Preview the prototype in a browser-like simulation, test navigation and state changes, then export an image, PDF or HTML5 simulation. The exported HTML5 artifact is useful for showing proposed interaction logic and collecting early feedback. Do not treat it as clean, maintainable React, Vue, Swift or Android source code, or as a secure deployed website.
A practical ForeUI workflow
- Download the installer from the official site if the download page is functioning.
- Install ForeUI and check the Java/runtime requirement for your operating system.
- Create a new plot or prototype.
- Drag interface elements onto the canvas; position, resize and style them.
- Add pages or screens and establish the intended navigation.
- Open the behavior editor for relevant elements and define events, actions and conditions.
- Run the simulation and test links, visibility changes, messages, pop-ups and form-like states.
- Export an image, PDF or HTML5 simulation for stakeholders or developers.
- Keep a named master file and a backup before sharing reusable resources.
Platforms and Java requirements
ForeUI’s official material advertises Windows, Mac OS X/macOS and Linux; some older pages also mention Solaris. Current compatibility with modern operating-system releases is not established by the public documentation, so test the trial on the machine you intend to use.
Rank #3
The FAQ’s minimal-bundle instructions require JRE 6 or later and, on Linux, extracting an archive and running launch.sh:
tar -zxvf ForeUI.tar.gz
That is legacy guidance, not confirmation that current Java releases or current Linux distributions will work. Potential problems include installation or launch failures, security-policy conflicts, font and rendering issues, and incompatibility with newer operating systems.
Sharing and collaboration
ForeUI supports custom elements, resource libraries and importing or exporting reusable design resources. This is file-based sharing, not evidence of simultaneous multiplayer editing. The public material does not establish cloud workspaces, presence indicators, comments, approvals, robust version history or integrations with Git, Jira, Slack or design-system services.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If several people share files, agree on ownership, naming, backups and who may modify common libraries. Decide how changes return to the master prototype; ForeUI does not provide a documented modern merge workflow.
Current status and version history
The original review, published July 6, 2010, covered ForeUI 2.3.2. It is useful historical context, not a current version report. ForeUI’s own archive records:
| Version | Announcement or release date |
|---|---|
| 3.20 | February 11, 2013 |
| 4.3 | August 17, 2016 |
| 4.4 | February 12, 2017 |
| 4.5 | July 12, 2017 |
| 4.6 | March 13, 2018 |
| 5.0 | March 29, 2019 |
Version 5.0 is the latest clearly documented release in the public archive, not necessarily the build currently downloadable in 2026. The site’s public footer says 2009–2020, and some indexed official pages return 404 errors. Third-party listings that call 3.20 “latest” are therefore incomplete, while claiming that 5.0 is certainly current would also go beyond the evidence. Check the official download page, installer metadata and support response before purchase.
Trial, licensing and pricing
The official pricing page lists an individual license at $150 USD (checked August 16, 2026). The vendor describes a 15-day full-featured trial; after the trial, the program can run but saving and exporting are disabled. Sales are listed as non-refundable. See foreui.com/buy and the FAQ at foreui.com/faq.
The license is user-based rather than machine-based: an individual may use it on machines they own. The purchase covers one year of upgrades, and versions released during that period remain permanently usable. Further upgrade access may require renewal, so this is not a conventional all-inclusive subscription.

The vendor says a 10-user license may be assigned to up to 10 employees; reassignment requires the former employee to uninstall the software. Confirm all terms on the live purchase page because older official pages use slightly different renewal wording.

Where ForeUI is strong
- One tool spans low-fidelity wireframes and interactive behavioral prototypes.
- Flowchart logic makes conditional interactions understandable to non-programmers.
- Theme switching can present the same concept at different fidelity levels.
- A desktop/offline workflow suits legacy projects and restricted environments.
- Image, PDF and HTML5 exports support reviews and demonstrations.
- Custom elements and libraries encourage reuse.
Where it falls short today
- Public release information is old, and current support activity is unclear.
- Legacy Java guidance and uncertain operating-system compatibility create setup risk.
- There is no clear evidence of real-time collaboration, modern integrations or active plugin growth.
- Responsive layout, accessibility, device preview and animation capabilities are not documented at the level expected from current product-design platforms.
- $150 is a substantial one-time price when many modern tools offer free or low-cost entry plans.
- HTML5 export should remain a prototype artifact, not production software.
ForeUI compared with current alternatives
| Tool | Best reason to choose it | Key difference from ForeUI |
|---|---|---|
| Figma | Browser collaboration, components, plugins and developer handoff | Modern cloud workflow rather than a legacy desktop file model; verify current pricing on Figma’s site. |
| Axure RP | Complex conditional logic, variables, dynamic panels and documentation | More powerful for intricate behavior, usually with a steeper learning curve; verify pricing. |
| Penpot | Open-source-oriented collaborative design and prototyping | Modern browser collaboration and extensibility, not ForeUI’s flowchart system; verify hosted and self-hosted plans. |
| Justinmind | Interactive web/mobile prototypes and testing workflows | More contemporary device-oriented features, but not an offline one-time-license equivalent; verify plans. |
| Proto.io | High-fidelity browser prototypes, templates and team review | Optimized for polished collaborative prototypes rather than a desktop-first workflow; verify plans. |

Run the trial on the target machine. ForeUI is worth considering if flowchart-defined behavior and theme switching matter more than cloud collaboration.
Modern product teams
Choose a maintained collaborative platform when you need shared editing, comments, version history, design systems, integrations, responsive layouts or developer handoff.
Developers seeking production code
Use ForeUI to clarify requirements and demonstrate behavior, not to generate a production application. Plan a separate engineering implementation and accessibility, security and device-testing process.
Final recommendation
ForeUI remains a capable concept: a compact desktop wireframing tool that can express real interaction logic without conventional programming. Its flowchart editor, reusable resources and multiple presentation styles are still useful for the right project. The deciding issue in 2026 is product longevity, not the feature list. Because the latest prominent release announcement is from 2019 and current download and compatibility status are uncertain, trial the official build first. Buy only if it runs on your system, opens the files you need and its offline workflow justifies $150; otherwise, select a maintained collaborative alternative.
