For a broad range of free cartoon-themed backgrounds, start with Unsplash’s cartoon wallpaper collection. For selected classic Disney animation desktop backgrounds, see D23’s download archive. Check each image’s price or subscription label, dimensions, and applicable rights before using it.
Where to download cartoon wallpapers
Unsplash: varied cartoon styles
Unsplash’s HD cartoon wallpaper collection is a starting point for contributor images in different styles. Unsplash describes images in the collection as free to download, but the page may also show Unsplash+ subscription results. Open the individual image and check its label and license rather than assuming every result is included in the standard free offering. An example listing describes its image-specific license information on the image page: view the example.
D23: selected classic Disney desktop images
D23’s classic Disney animation wallpaper archive includes selected titles such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia, The Little Mermaid, and Winnie the Pooh. The page lists several desktop dimensions for its examples. It is a limited archive, not a comprehensive source for every Disney property or a confirmed collection of phone backgrounds.
How to check whether an image is free
Unsplash’s standard license permits downloading, copying, modifying, distributing, and using images free of charge, including commercially, without attribution. It does not permit selling images without significant modification or compiling images to replicate a similar or competing service. Read the current Unsplash License for the full terms.

- [Products and Accessories]: You will receive a 36''X48'' teen room decor cartoon tapestry, a tool kit (including 6 * double-sided tape). Refer to the hanging tutorial below for easy installation without damaging the walls at all
- [Care Instructions]: The funny tapestry is folded and packaged, and there will be slight creases when opened. Don't worry, it will be flat and smooth after ironing. In terms of cleaning, it can be washed by hand or machine, which is convenient and effective
Unsplash+ results have a separate subscription license; a result marked Unsplash+ should not be treated as included with standard free downloads. See Unsplash’s license help article.
Permission to download an image does not automatically grant rights to every character, logo, brand, person, or artwork depicted in it. Unsplash’s Terms & Conditions exclude those depicted elements from the platform’s grant. Cartoon characters and franchise artwork may require separate permission depending on how and where you use the image. A free download is not, by itself, proof that the depicted character or artwork is copyright-free.

- Use the intended-device version: D23 lists multiple desktop sizes for its archived examples, but does not establish equivalent mobile versions. Check the individual image’s available files rather than assuming one size fits every screen.
Set the downloaded image as your background
D23’s page gives basic directions for its desktop downloads. The labels and menus can differ across operating-system versions, so treat these as the page’s general instructions rather than a universal guide.
