Free flower PNG images are downloadable flower graphics, often with transparent backgrounds—handy for painting references, digital collages, and design layouts. Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, and PNGWing each list flower PNGs, but the collection or search-result label is not enough to establish how you may reuse a particular image. Open the individual file page, check its dimensions and license, and save the terms alongside the asset.
What to check before downloading a flower PNG
- Background: A transparent-looking preview is not proof that the downloaded file has transparency. Check the file itself in an image editor or viewer that displays transparency clearly.
- Resolution: Match the image dimensions to its intended use. A small asset may work in a layout or screen-sized study but become visibly soft when enlarged.
- License: Read the terms on the individual image page. A platform’s collection title does not give every file the same reuse rights.
- Credit and changes: Note the creator and any requirements to provide attribution or share adaptations under particular terms.
Where to find free flower PNG images
Pixabay
Pixabay has a flower PNG collection with flower and transparent-background imagery. Its individual listings show file details and license information. For example, one flower illustration is listed as a 2000 × 1920 PNG published May 20, 2017, under the Pixabay Content License; another is a 1477 × 1920 PNG published November 25, 2016, under that license. These are details for those particular listings, not a guarantee that every flower result has the same format or terms.

Wikimedia Commons
Commons can be useful when you want file history and licensing details. The file page for “Bouquet fleurs.png” describes a flower bunch and lists a 708 × 575 PNG dated October 2005. That page names Delphine Ménard and Anthere for some source material and lists multiple licenses, including the GNU Free Documentation License and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licenses. Its terms explain that attribution requires appropriate credit, a license link, and an indication of changes; share-alike terms require adaptations to be distributed under the same or a compatible license. Follow the license options and instructions on the exact file page rather than assuming these terms apply to other Commons images.
PNGWing
PNGWing search results include individual flower PNG listings, such as yellow flowers and a pink chrysanthemum. Those pages show dimensions, file sizes, and the site’s own free-use wording. Treat that wording as a listing-specific claim: review the current page and its terms before using an image, particularly in published or commercial work.

How to choose an image for a painting project
For a painting reference or digital composition, first choose an image whose flower, viewing angle, and visual style suit the work. Then check its actual dimensions and background. A transparent image can be placed over a painted or colored ground without a rectangular background, while a non-transparent image may still be useful as a reference.
Finally, confirm the exact file’s reuse terms. Pixabay’s cited examples carry the Pixabay Content License; the cited Commons file lists licenses with attribution and share-alike requirements. These are different licensing situations, so do not transfer the terms from one platform—or one image—to another. Keep a record of the asset page, creator information, license, and any changes you make.
