Historical and botanical persimmon illustrations
Cooper Hewitt: bird, branch, persimmons, and butterfly

Mary Vaux Walcott: botanical study
Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) is a public-domain image in the Wikimedia Commons record, which identifies Mary Vaux Walcott as an American naturalist and illustrator who lived from 1860 to 1940. This is a botanical option when a plant study is a better fit than an icon or decorative scene.

For a scalable graphic, start with one of the SVG listings. For a historic or botanical look, compare the collection images and their provenance. If the intended use is commercial, prominent, or product-related, give particular attention to asset-specific terms and any release warnings.
Check image rights before reuse
“Free” describes access to a download, not a blanket permission covering every image on a platform or every use. CC0 and public-domain labels appear on several records here, but museum records may also display usage-condition notices. Follow the linked institutional terms and the individual asset record. The photo listing separately warns that model or property releases can matter for some images.
- Open the page for the exact image you intend to use and confirm its stated rights status.
- For museum images, read any linked Open Access guidance or terms, especially where the record says usage conditions apply.
- For photographs, consider whether people, private property, or a product context could raise release concerns.
- Keep the artist, collection, date, and source details with your project when useful, even if the listed license does not require attribution.
