The best-documented match for a “giant papercraft Audi” timelapse is Taras Lesko’s paper replica of the Audi A7. It was a four-foot-long commission for Audi of America, assembled from hundreds of parts. Designboom reported that a time-lapse recorded its construction—but the available sources do not establish that this is the exact video meant by the title.
Which giant Audi papercraft does the timelapse show?
Taras Lesko’s 2012 Audi A7 is a strong documented match: Designboom’s 2011 coverage explicitly says a time-lapse documented the model’s creation. Lesko says Audi of America commissioned the replica for the A7 announcement and its display at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Because the title does not identify a model or maker, the A7 should be treated as a likely match, not a confirmed identification.

How large and complex was Lesko’s A7?
Lesko describes his paper Audi as four feet long, made from 750 unique parts printed across 285 sheets, and taking around 245 hours to complete. Designboom gives overall dimensions of 4 × 2 × 2 feet (1.2 × 0.6 × 0.6 m). These are descriptions of this commissioned project, not a standard plan or time estimate for building a large paper car.

The project page lists Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D, Pepakura Designer, paper, a printer, a plotter and glue among its tools. That list indicates the digital-design and fabrication work involved; it does not establish that every tool is necessary for another papercraft build, or that a reusable A7 template is available.
How to make a smaller Audi papercraft
Audi España’s official Monta tu Audi page offers downloadable cut-out models for the Audi quattro Rally, Audi e-tron and Audi R8. It invites makers to share finished crafts using #MontaTuAudi. The page does not provide comparative difficulty ratings or build-time estimates.

For a different, third-party printable option, Papelest lists an Audi R8 model at 1:24 scale, with medium difficulty and an estimated build time of 2–3 hours. Those ratings and instructions apply to that particular template, not to Audi’s official models or Lesko’s A7.
Materials and assembly for Papelest’s R8
Papelest recommends 200–250 gsm paper or cardstock and lists scissors or a craft knife, a ruler and a glue stick. Its instructions are to print at actual size, cut the solid lines, score the dashed lines, then glue parts together in sequence, allowing joints to dry. Use these as guide-specific suggestions rather than specifications for the A7.

Audi España’s official craft page says, “Es el momento de demostrar tu habilidad, también con las manualidades,” meaning, “It’s time to show your skill, also with crafts.” The invitation fits the smaller downloadable models: they are a more accessible starting point than attempting a one-off, four-foot-long commission.

Lesko’s A7 is not the only documented large Audi paper model. Patowsky documents a separate 1:5-scale Audi R8 4.2 FSI measuring 88 cm long, 40 cm wide and 25 cm high, built using paper, cardstock and films. Its size and materials describe that R8 project only; they are not details of Lesko’s A7.
