Brick My World is a smartphone app that turns a scan of a real-world object into a brick-based model you can review, edit, and build from instructions and a parts list. The original “first-of-a-kind” characterization comes from coverage of the app; available sources do not establish that it is objectively the first technology to do this.
How do you turn an object into a brick model?
- Scan the subject. The app’s workflow uses an iOS or Android phone to capture an object. New Atlas reported that scanning relied on Apple ARKit or Google ARCore, while the campaign FAQ recommended a good smartphone camera. These are product and creator descriptions, not guarantees of compatibility or scan quality on every device. New Atlas and the campaign FAQ describe the process.
- Review the generated model. New Atlas described AI-assisted voxelization that converts a capture into geometric, brick-shaped pieces. Apple’s current listing says users can review and adjust the model; its version history records additions including changing colors and adding or removing bricks. The listing confirms these advertised features, not how faithfully a particular scan will reproduce its subject. Apple App Store
- Build from the instructions and parts list. The app listing offers instructions in PDF and LDraw formats. New Atlas also reported that the design identifies the colors and number of pieces needed. Use the generated parts list for the specific model rather than relying on a general estimate. New Atlas
Brick My World is listed for iOS and Android. The Google Play listing records an update dated August 8, 2025; Apple’s version history records a 1.0 release on April 7, 2025 and later editing features. Store listings establish availability and advertised functions, but not consistent results across phones or objects.

What subjects and phone capabilities does it suit?
The campaign FAQ recommends scanning objects roughly 4 inches to 3 feet in size and suggests dividing larger subjects into sections. It also recommends a phone that supports ARKit on Apple devices or ARCore on Android. Those are the creators’ guidelines; they are not an independently tested compatibility list or a promise that every object in that range will scan well. Campaign FAQ
As with any scan-to-model process, the practical question is whether the resulting simplified geometry captures the features that matter for your build. The available store descriptions do not provide an accuracy benchmark, validated success rate, or comparison across object types and phones.

How many bricks will you need?
Brick My World’s campaign FAQ estimates that a smartphone-sized model may use around 500–1,000 bricks, with larger or more detailed models potentially requiring several thousand. New Atlas repeated the 500–1,000 estimate in its December 2, 2024 report. These are approximate examples, not a guaranteed count: the subject, chosen scale, and level of detail change the bill of materials. For a particular build, check the app’s generated parts list. Campaign FAQ; New Atlas
Where can you get the pieces?
New Atlas and the campaign FAQ describe an integration with the independent marketplace BrickOwl: the app’s parts list could be used to create a wishlist of the pieces for a model. Because those descriptions date from the crowdfunding period, check inside the current app whether the integration is still available before planning an order. New Atlas; Campaign FAQ
