Adobe’s full Photoshop desktop app is not permanently free: its official trial lasts seven days, then converts to paid billing unless you cancel. Adobe also offers a free mobile app with premium features behind a subscription, limited guided web tutorials, and Photoshop features announced for ChatGPT; none of these is the same as a free desktop license.

How to start the official Photoshop trial
- Open Adobe’s official Photoshop free-trial page.
- Select Start Free Trial.
- Choose an eligible Photoshop or Creative Cloud plan.
- Sign in with an Adobe ID or create one.
- Enter the requested billing information and review the price, billing period and cancellation terms shown for your country and account.
- Accept the subscription terms.
- Download and install Creative Cloud if prompted, then use it to install Photoshop.
- Launch Photoshop and sign in with the same Adobe account.
Adobe says the trial lasts seven days and paid billing begins when it ends unless you cancel. Treat it as a short-term trial, not an ongoing free version. Adobe’s trial installation instructions explain the current setup process.
Cancel before the trial converts to paid billing
Uninstalling Photoshop does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through your Adobe account, following the current instructions and terms for your account:

- Sign in to your Adobe account.
- Open Your plans or Plans.
- Find the Photoshop or Creative Cloud plan and select Manage plan.
- Select Cancel your plan or Cancel plan.
- Follow the confirmation screens and verify that the account shows the plan as canceled.
Adobe’s US trial page describes an additional 14-day refund period after the trial ends. This is not the same as canceling before the first charge: you may be charged first and then need to cancel and request any applicable refund. Check the terms shown for your country and account. If you subscribed through an app marketplace, manage the subscription there.
What does Photoshop cost after the trial?
Adobe’s US product page lists the standalone Photoshop plan at US$22.99 per month on an annual plan billed monthly. Prices, plans and eligibility differ by country and can change, so check Adobe’s current Photoshop product page and final checkout screen.
The same US page lists Creative Cloud Pro for eligible students and teachers at US$19.99 per month for the first year and US$39.99 per month afterward, billed annually monthly. These are US prices for a discounted plan, not a general free student license.

Is Photoshop free for students?
Not universally. Adobe announced a free Photoshop, Acrobat and Firefly student offer through accredited higher education institutions in India. The announcement does not provide a complete public directory of participating institutions, so check with your institution. Elsewhere, offers vary: Adobe’s US page lists discounted student/teacher Creative Cloud Pro pricing, not a general free license.

Is Photoshop free on an iPhone or iPad?
Adobe describes Photoshop mobile as free to download, with premium features available through subscription. It is a free mobile app with paid upgrades, not the full free desktop version. Check the live app-store listing for current availability, features and pricing. Adobe’s mobile launch announcement gave prices for its Mobile and Web plan at launch, but those historical figures should not be treated as current prices.

Is there a free online version of Adobe Photoshop?
Adobe says there is no free Photoshop web version for editing your own uploaded photos. It does offer guided tutorials for trying some popular Photoshop tools online. A plan or trial is required for the web workflow that edits your own images. See Adobe’s Photoshop product page.
Can I use Photoshop in ChatGPT for free?
Adobe announced Photoshop features in ChatGPT as free to ChatGPT users at launch in December 2025. The announcement describes conversational image edits, not a full Photoshop desktop subscription, and does not guarantee continuing access for every account. Adobe Express Free for quick designs
Adobe Express Free is aimed at templates and quick graphics, rather than Photoshop’s full desktop editing workflow. Check Adobe’s current product page for the free plan’s features and limits.
What not to download
A cracked installer, torrent, serial-number generator or repacked “full version” is not a legitimate Adobe download. Use Adobe’s official pages or the official site of an alternative such as GIMP. A free trial is safer than unauthorized installers, which can also put your device and files at risk.

- Need the full desktop app briefly? Use the seven-day trial, review the billing terms and cancel in time if you do not want a paid plan.
- Are you a student in India? Check whether your accredited higher education institution participates in Adobe’s free offer.
