Prepare the pieces
- Download and open the official 60147 PDF instructions.
- Empty the 144 pieces onto a clean, well-lit surface.
- Separate small plates, slopes, clips, transparent pieces, minifigure accessories, motor parts and canopy elements into groups. This is a practical sorting method, not a LEGO-prescribed requirement.
- Keep the manual’s parts callouts visible so you can compare each step before pressing pieces together.
Build the LEGO fishing boat step by step
1. Form the hull and motor assemblies
Follow the PDF from the first page to build the boat’s hull. Work in the printed order so the plates and supporting elements line up correctly. Add both outboard motor assemblies as shown. Before moving on, turn each propeller gently: LEGO identifies the spinning propellers as a defining play feature, so they should rotate freely rather than bind against the hull.
2. Add the canopy and driver’s console
Continue with the upper structure in the instruction sequence. Install the canopy and build the driver’s console. Press the surrounding pieces down evenly; a small gap at this stage can shift the canopy or console in later steps.

3. Install the swiveling fishing chair
Place the swiveling chair in its indicated position and attach the hook used to hold the fishing rod. Move the chair through its rotation before adding figures or accessories, checking that it can swivel without catching on the console or canopy.
4. Complete the fishing scene
Finish the model with the two angler minifigures, their life vests, the fishing rod, three fish, the shark and the buildable buoy. The shark’s mouth is designed to open, so test that movement gently after assembly.

Does LEGO Fishing Boat 60147 float?
Yes. LEGO’s product description states, “The Fishing Boat floats!” If you choose to check it yourself, use a shallow container, place the model in gently, supervise children around water, and dry the pieces thoroughly afterward. A home water check should not be treated as an independent performance test or a guarantee that every rebuilt or modified version will float.

If you are comparing another LEGO fishing boat
Do not assume another set is the same model. Check its set number and official manual, then compare the features that matter: piece count and build complexity, whether the hull floats, moving propellers or other mechanisms, included characters and accessories, finished dimensions, and present-day availability. Only 60147 should be described as the model covered in these instructions.
